so we can be prepared for this ubiquitous statement, when exactly was it that the WTS actually came out and stated the no Zero year tid-bit???The first printing of Studies In the Scriptures Series VII - The Finished Mystery was June 1917, in which the end of World War One was predicted for October 1st, 1917.
True. But that was before they realized that there was no zero year, it went from 1 BC to 1AD (or 1 BCE to 1 CE in JW speak).
So adding one year to 1917 brings you to 1918.

by jwfacts incabasilas made a comment at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/156586/2869313/post.ashx#2869313 that seems to have been missed, as was new for me.

If they are over the moon, it will be because there will only be 4 weekly meetings, instead of five.
no no no... it will still be 5 meetings, just 3 on one night instead of 2. This way it sounds like less of a change.... cmon, we all know how it works ;)

Did Jehovah's Witnesses ever claim they were inspired?
by slimboyfat injehovah's witnesses insist they are not false prophets despite making false predictions because they never claimed inspiration.
but is that true?
well most of the time they seem to have been careful only to claim divine "guidance" or that they are "god's channel".

The Lord, through his "faithful and wise servant" now states to us, "Let us cover our territory four times in six months." That becomes our organization instructions and has the same binding force on us that his statement to the Logos had when he said, 'Let us make man in our image'."
that is the most absurd thing I have ever read!- The Watchtower - July 1, 1943 -

I ATTENDED A JW FUNERAL YESTERDAY---WOW!
by Terry inback in 1959 i became best friends with a fellow who was instrumental in my becoming a jehovah's witness.
yesterday i attended his mother's funeral.. from the time i was 12 years old i became a part of johnny's family and got to know his mother, jennie, very well.
in fact, she was more instrumental in convincing me there was intellectual merit to the reasoning process of consulting the bible and drawing jw conclusions than any of the arguments johnny and i had.. fast forward a bit.

Really nice post. I feel like this could be me in 25 years seeing all the friends I have now that I know will abandon me when/if I ever get out.
They all look absolutely horrible! They look years older than they are. They have all let themselves go physically. They are in a state of physical disrepair that only comes to people who have given up on life. Honestly, they are fat, dumpy, haggard and bizarre looking. And I'm even trying to be nice!!
So true....... JW's typically really let themselves go and pass it off as not being "vain". They are so focused on the "truth" they dont have time to take care of themselves, or at least thats what they tell people - but they know why.
So much for their body being a temple. Well I guess if they dont smoke they can drink a case of beer a week and eat burgers every night. After all, they probably dont earn enough to buy healthy food, they have to eat hamburger helper every night.I know 20 year old couples that got married at 19 and have both gained 30-50 lbs easy. One "brother" i know personally gained an easy 100+ lbs with 3 years of getting married. And he is now only around 26 years old and HUGE!
Sad really..... Good on ya Terry!

Another thing is that all those older books have been done away with along with some of the teachings/ doctrines / declarations they expressed - What the judge wrote would be viewed as old light. And since then have we not seen the light get brighter and brighter brothers & sisters **huge applause*
while you are absolutely correct as to how JW's view statements by Rutherford, but the fact remains that the WTS claimed to be inspired !! You cant say that they thought they were inspired back then but now they know they arent ........ the fact remains that Deut. 18:20-21 still applies........
(Deuteronomy 18:20-22) . . .However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: "How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?" 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’
How can anyone claim that Christians that fleed from the Org. back when Rutherford made these statements was rejecting God/Jehovah/JC ?? As Rutherford would say - "the facts clearly show" that anyone who rejected the Org. after Rutherford made these statements was obeying this scriptural command!

The faithful servant of the Lord God, speaking by inspiration and authority from the Most High, points out that there is a great warfare waged by those who are on the side of the Devil against those who are devoted to Jehovah God, and employs these words, to wit: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." — Ephesians 6:12. (pages 72 and 73)
no dice on this one, the WBTS will just say the faithful inspired one was Paul, the writer of Ephesians.
I like this one:
***w8210/1p.27pars.8-9BeasMenWhoAreFacingHar–MagedonUnafraid***In behalf of such individuals who at heart seek God’s rule instead of man’s rule, the "prophet" whom Jehovah has raised up has been, not an individual man as in the case of Jeremiah, but a class. The members of this class are, like the prophet-priest Jeremiah, wholly dedicated to Jehovah God through Christ and, by the begettal of Jehovah’s holy spirit, they have been made part of "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession." (1 Peter 2:9) At this late date there is a mere remnant of this "prophet" class yet on earth. The "war of the great day of God the Almighty" at Har–Magedon could not start before this composite "prophet" ends his work.

One thing is now certain: if the "prophet" class, the Jeremiah class, is facing Har–Magedon, it is also facing the fall of Babylon the Great -

For his anger flares up easily.Happy are all those taking refuge in him."
BTW, the speaker made it clear that the "son" is Jesus and "He" is Jehovah.
Question for JWs:
Would you say that Jehovah is "slow to anger"?
wow, never really thought of that.
I guess I might have heard it if I went to my special talk. I had a special "stay home and drink beer day" instead.
