although the WT dangled the 120 year pre-flood generation idea back in 2003. Any suggestion that Christs 100 years is too long would certainly genreated a similar response....

Right out and said that obeying the cong/elders/WTS/FDS/GB arrangements - IS how one submits to Christ. Is there any discrepancy here?

they really need to rewrite the "Reasoning" book since it still trumpets the 1914 generation explanation.

the speaker used the old example of the giraffe's neck, but made the classic mistake of mixing up darwin's theory of natural selection and lamarckism by poking fun at the idea a neck stretched through use could be passed on to offspring.
i wondered how an otherwise intelligent person (as this speaker is) could make such an elementary mistake.. it occurs to me that the society has been writing less and less against evolution in recent years, so there is less up-to-date ammunition for brothers to draw upon in talks.
what happens to Eden if selection of species is rational? And if Eden goes, there goes Cain, Lot, Noah, and Abraham too.

It was a big deal whent they moved away from the young earth, another big moment that passed with hardly a whisper. I dont think most dubs noticed.
Now as a JW you can beleive that each creative day could have billions of years, and that animals may have roamed the earth millions of years before man but still be of the same creative day.
Dinosaurs were created and then let to die off during the same creative day as mammals 50 million years later.

it sais that the watchtower logo - a stylised watchtower or a watchtower with a bible - is used by the watchtower society.
thus, it should not be used by congregations or private persons, neither on kingdom halls, stationary or anything else.
Honestly, I don't recall seeing the Watchtower logo on any of the congregation signs.
I have seen them. I remember about 20 years ago a KH built a sign out of brick and put a watchtower in it. A few years later they dismantled it and made a new sign because the WT was a copy righted logo. This was probably 15 years ago or more.....

yet they all attended and seemed to rejoice/mourn with all others in attendance.the day in the early 90's when i read a critique of jehovah's witnesses in which the author roundly condemned jw's eschatology regarding the '1914 generation', and in such article stated that they would have to renounce such foolish reasoning soon, before the end of the century to avoid being the 'relgious laughingstock' of the world.the day in 1995 when i saw his predictions come precisely true in the watchtower.when i watched and saw no other jw's bothered by this massive change in position.the months that i compiled a chart in which, using actuarial mortality figures, in which i applied the numbers, age-group by age-group to the 'annointed' from 1941 to 2002, and saw that it was empirically impossible for 8500 to still be alive.the month in which i read ray franz' books, and found myself aware that my life was about to change forever.october 2006, when after 3 years of 'fading' and staying out of sight, i submitted my letter of disassociation, and saw a look of happiness on the face of the friend-elder that took the document, though it meant the end of 20 years of personal friendship with him.the day my cousin - my best friend for 35 years - decided i was unworthy of even a reply to a simple email.the list is longer.
