  I dont really see how "This was indicated by Jesus’ words: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled.” (Luke 21:24" makes any sense.
  If the ATotN were 2520 DAYS those words would apply no differently than if it were 2520 years.

  This is a typical WTS sentence - they imply that a scripture 'clearly' means something and the JW readers nod their heads in agreement and brag about how the WT is full of scriptures to look up in your own bible.
  When in reality it is a blank-bullet. In this case there is no support given to their argument by Luke 21:24.

  Now that we're past that we can get to the best part of Russels prophecy.

  In prophecy, a year averages 360 days, or 12 months of 30 days each. (Compare Revelation 12:6, 14.) So the king’s “seven times,” or seven years, were 360 days multiplied by 7, or 2,520 days

  Ah yes, the famous 360 day year. So if prophetic years are 360 days, then why is it Russel counts 2520 Gregorian Calendar (365 day) years from 607 BCE to arrive at 1914?

  So lets look at this - 1914,the cornerstone date of the WTS is built from a start date that is FACTUALLY INACCURATE, and it is calculated using a fomula that turns "7 Times" into 7 years, then expands those 7 years into 7 - 360 day years.THEN takes those "2520 day years" and converts them into 2520 (365 day) gregorian calendar years. !!!!!!!!!And ah yes, the other foundation stone of the WTS - the 144,000 - this number is calculated from adding the FIGURATIVE NUMBER12,000 for each of the 12 tribes of Israel to sum up the LITERAL NUMBER 144,000.
  So here we have "figurative numbers" arbitrarily converted to "literal" numbers.

  Do I see a pattern here????????????????

  isn't it funny to think the wt claims to have anything to do with spirituality?

  i mean, here is a business that measures how "spiritual" you are by the number of hours you spend each month serving the corporation.

  its most respected "spiritual" leaders have business titles like "circuit overseers" and "district overseers".

  i recall in the past that the reigns on yoga were eased off a bit but it seems now that the wts has declared it full-fledged demonism.. does anyone have any previous articles that connected the exercise/stretching aspect of yoga as something "acceptable" or a conscious decision?.

  Yoga

  After I realized that I was getting involved in something that was clearly connected with false religion, I stopped the yoga class. (February 22, 1983) My problem then was what sort of exercise could I use instead. I went to the local library and found two books that contained exercises that were very similar to the stretching exercises of yoga, but that are based on sound medical research and have the same beneficial therapeutic effects but not with the yoga connections. So this problem has been solved.

  Ie: - the stretching part of yoga is just stretching.

  so you can do the same stretches that yoga teaches just don’t call it yoga!

  i stumbled across something in the watchtower 1981 magazine (in my wbts library cd) showing the faithful and discreet slave is "a composite individual".

  i have never seen this anywhere before, but the wbts set-up of the fds as "a composite individual" looks somewhat similar to the trinity of three divine persons in one true god.

  So far the JWs I have discussed this with are fully denying the FDS is a composite individual, they want to say they are "individuals" and avoid the word "slave" (singular) at all costs. They actually deny their so-called future rulers' writings and prefer to call them "individuals". What should I say to those JWs?

  i find that difficult to believe. Matt 24:45 clearly is talking about an individual slave - the faithful slave.
  
  How can anyone deny that is the case? That is why the WTS inserts the word "class" and "composite" - to make the connection of the individual slave in Matt 24:45 to the 144,000 annointed.
  
  According to the WTS they are annointed individuals that make up the slave "class". Whats the problem? (I mean beside the fact that the WTS is full of shit)

  the term "composite" was used a lot by the WTS in the past in place of "class" that seems to be the more politically correct term.

  My favourite was when they referred to the F&DS as the "composite prophet", and then of course to later deny ever having called themselves prophets.

  In behalf of such individuals who at heart seek God's rule instead of man's rule, the "prophet" whom Jehovah has raised up has been, not an individual man as in the case of Jeremiah, but a class. The members of this class are, like the prophet-priest Jeremiah, wholly dedicated to Jehovah God through Christ and, by the begettal of Jehovah's holy spirit, they have been made part of "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession." (1 Peter 2:9) At this late date there is a mere remnant of this "prophet" class yet on earth. The "war of the great day of God the Almighty" at Har-Magedon could not start before this composite "prophet" ends his work.

  the generation meant what it meant, that literal generation would see the destrucion of Jerusalem, and it did! Yet the WT has claimed 4 different interpretations of the generation for whatever suited its needs at the time - generation is 1874 - 1914? 144k? 1914 gen? wicked? 144k again? - Way beyond the scriptures!

  How about the fact that the F&DS was a parable. The WTS preaches it as literal and applies it to (who else of course??) themselves! - again beyond scripture.

  How about Revelation 1:7? Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen.

  An obvious reference to the second coming of Christ, this verse poses a significant problem for the Watchtower Society due to the fact that according to Watchtower dogma, the second coming of Christ has already occurred. Jehovah's Witnesses hold that Jesus Christ has already returned (viz. the second coming), but that He did so invisibly.

  "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" was told to be literally true

  in the 1920's the watcthower had the "millions now living will never die".

  in the proclaimer's book there is a photo of a bible students book booth with a sign that said in large letters, "millions now living will never die!

  this is literally true.

  yes but the WT now quotes the alternate title to that talk - "millions now livingmay never die". That my friends, IS a fact.

  Remember that Rutherford declared 1925 to be more sure in scripture than 1914. Millions now living would never die because "this system" had ended (thus "the world has ended") and we would enter an age in 1925 where death would no more have hold over mankind, because, obviously, the resurrection of the "princes" was to occur. Thus millions now living would never see death.

  It was absolutely preached as a literal fact to be fulfilled in 1925. Ironically, the WT still refers to this statement but in a different light, that of the future new system. It had so much exposure they can never deny that the statement was made, only they twist the meaning of it.

  For many years the JW's connected this with the 1914 generation. But of course we know that 1914, the generation of 1914 & 1925 (the real story anyway) have all been swept under the rug.

  i haven't seen any comments on this yet.... in the december 15, 2008 "study" version of the watchtower, in the last study article (the one to be covered march 1), paragraph 14 reads thusly in part:.

  "...one january evening, the man asked his wife, jodi, what she knew of jehovah's witnesses.

  she was a catholic, and she said that the only thing she linked to the witnesses to was "door-to-door preaching".

  i remember reading that. It seemed a bit "awkward" to say the least to read that in a WT. Not exactly typical WT protocol.

  I like AK-Jeffs idea, but use it in a talk! Find a way to quote the article and apply it to finding the truth on the internet. After, the WT just told us that the internet can be a tool for God to lead lost sheep to the truth! The truth is on the internet!
