before i dissolved the music project i was a part of, i was going to do a cd of experimental noise called 'christians for communism', complete w/ t-shirts and everything. i'm still planning on using the concept in another venue....and the t-shirts definitely need to be made.

Atheists for Jehovah
by slimboyfat inthere are hundreds or thousands of websites on jehovah's witnesses with all sorts of slants, but i have never come across any specifically for atheist jehovah's witnesses.
has anyone ever seen a site for atheist witnesses?
i think it would be a great idea, and we could call it atheists for jehovah, as a counterpart to the atheists for jesus.

iRIVER versus iPOD a Discussion
by Terry ini've owned two different ipods including the video ipod.. i own two different iriver products including the new iriver clix2 (mp3 player, video player, digital recorder and fm radio.).
to me the iriver is the clear winner on all fronts.
(cheaper, too).. briefly: iriver allows multiple file formats and drag and drop file use.

which model is that? i like the idea of using non-internal batteries. from what i understand, i guess there's an usb --> battery connector for players and recorders where the internal battery dies...i still need to buy that connector for my microtrack recorder just in case....knock on wood.

Using School Assignments to Give a Witness
by Mysterious inanyone remember all the examples of youths being encouraged to work something about the jws into school assignments on abortion, evolution, volunteer work etc?
i remember cheekily ending an essay with "remember the theory of evolution is just that, a theory" in about 8th grade but that was about it.
i did just get a fantastic a grade mark on my philosophy paper on shoudl parents have the right to refuse life saving medical treatment for infants and children too young to decide for themselves.

i know, 10 years old...do you know what a set up that is for never getting a chance to make out with a girl from school when i was 15?
actually, there were way too many witnesses in my high school...i think we had about 15....and 11 of them were a direct line to the elders, so we had to make out with sisters from other congregations or i'd get busted.....and worldly girls from other schools.
amen to witness sisters who were down with some heavy make out sessions. one thing about jws, they have so much practice kissing and dry humping, they're probably the best kissers in the world.

when i was in 5th grade the teacher asked us to give a discussion on something that interests us.
i asked my parents for help and they made me paraphrase an article from the awake! on how commercialism is wrong and that we should focus on spirituality.
so goddam embarrassing when all my friends were giving speeches on football and horses and skiing, etc.
my parents were idiots, they bought in full force until my dad had a nervous breakdown. i can't believe the stupid witness stuff they got me to do in school.

JWs & "Creature Worship" -- Is I...
by BitterTruth injehovah's witnesses, creature worship and active practicers of idolatry.
jehovah's witnesses have long practiced idolatry and various forms of "creature worship," now for many years.
although the wts teaches and has stated many times in their publications that the world in general, by way of such things as "birthday" celebrations, christmas, and other annual events, actually eulogize and extol great glory upon man, the individual himself, and thus, by way of whats known as "creature worship," practice wholesale idolatry!.

[Hey two weeks from today I'm going to San Francisco.
The plan is to fly in to Reno on Sunday about 12:00 noon and spend the night in Tahoe City. Then drive to San Franciso very early the next morning, spend the day and then drive back to Tahoe city late that evening. Then we'll fly back to Mississippi Thursday.
That said -- does anyone want to be a tour guide? LOL. I am so afraid I'm going to get lost in San Franciso!!! I am so not a big city gal!]
I won't be able to tour guide b/c i've cleared out the next four weeks to isolate and work on hopefully the last draft of my novel
One day in San Francisco, that's a tough one. most tourists miss the best thing about san francisco, the neighborhoods, but if it's your first time in san francisco, then there's the obligatory cable car ride, north beach area, walk to coit tower....or drive...north beach and coit tower (telegraph hill neighborhood) are walking distance, but be ready for steep hills. great people watching in north beach as well as bars. vesuvio's is a must, on kerouac alley right across from city lights book store, get that beatnik vibe...i think if i had one day in san francisco, i would avoid the cable cars b/c there's always a line..up to an hour or two... and stick to north beach, hike to coit tower before drinking, then head back down the hill and hang out at a cafe and ask locals where to eat...the bartenders @ vesuvios are cool and i know one also bartends in the mission district (which i'd say to explore if you had three days in san francisco)
fisherman's wharf and pier 39 is all tourists...if you find anyone from san francisco there it's b/c they work there or are begging for money and it's the same as any other city's tourist area, bad gift shops, tgi fridays to make the out of towners feel comfortable, etc. nobody who lives in san francisco goes there voluntarily.
parking is a bitch in north beach...coming from the east bay, i would say park your car at west oakland bart station (the local subway), and bart into san francisco, then get off at the first or second stop and grab a cab to north beach...it's also walkable and most people will give you directions if you ask...you'll be in the financial district/downtown and it's pretty safe.
washington square in north beach is a great place for a picnic or just to relax and north beach borders chinatown, which has a lot of cheap gift shops....and great chinese food and there are herbalists if you're looking for inexpensive supplements for anything health related.
if you want some bad ass illegal fireworks, chinatown is your place, just be discreet. ;)
if you end up hanging out late and want to go quirky, ask for directions to LiPo lounge or Buddha Bar, both hipster drinking establishments in chinatown that make san francisco unique.

i agree...i used to do tech support, so i'm always way more nice than many...even when i'm dealing with health insurance (notoriously inept), i always show respect to the person on the other end.
for some reason, even being nice, i got the complete blow off from iriver, could've been a bad apple or whatever, but when i get the blow off that's when i ask the harder questions, like what should i do to resolve the problem, which was, they'd give me a gift certificate for $75 for another iriver product....which the final straw was i was taping an interview with the author of white oleandar, and she did this whole segment about getting picked for oprah book club and how she was working a temp job and got a call from oprah directly and the iriver crapped out again.
i declined the gift certificate b/c i was getting attitude when i was being nice and respectful about it.....i always assume the other person is trying their best, in this case, i got instant attitude from them, so no more iriver products or recommendations from me. even $75 off won't get me to buy another iriver product.
creative and dell, them i'll support, and even though i really dislike being a slave to itunes, ipod has always treated us right w/ tech support and replacements.

i went with iriver b/c i hate the being stuck using itunes to organize my mp3s.
with limited use, my iriver h320 battery would die after about seven minutes.
they wouldn't exchange it b/c i had it just over a year, even though i probably used it once every two weeks.
i loved that i could make my own file directory options, but the battery thing and lack of tech support drove me to go with Creative, which was originally Dell, and Dell has never steered me wrong on tech support.
the creative i have is a 30gb w/ video and $100 less than the ipod 30gb.
i like that there isn't an itunes type interface, but it does try to organize your files on its own, i need to figure out how to make my own directory structure.
ipod has excellent support, my wife replaced hers twice w/ the one year warranty....she dropped it left and right and both times they replaced the unit w/o issues.
