that's right, and since this time the law has changed in mexico if i remember, so they can now hold property and be a religion, so the mexican jws were so happy that 'the ban' was lifted, when actually it was sanctioned by the wtbts so they could hold property and for no other reason.

"Crisis of Conscious" question
by monophonic insince my copy of the book, eh hum, found its way into the garbage and i need to purchase another copy i can't reference it at the moment.. .
can someone clarify for me, in the malawi and mexico chapter(s), 1) the jws were a cultural institution in order for the society to be able to own real estate and if they were a religion, then they wouldn't own the property, or something close to that, right?
2) most importantly, were there some big real estate transactions happening in mexico during the malawi massacre where the society didn't want to do anything to rock the boat on those?

in order for the video to stay legally legit, i'd get the music used off of there. i would think that's the first place the wtbts will go is to whoever holds the copyright to those songs to get them to pursue legal action....and youtube will take it down just for that...like they've taken down so many other videos since murdoch took control.

there were some things i stopped teaching over the years, and would refuse to counsel the friends about.

when i was 'in' i would include quotes from punk bands like social distortion and the dead kennedys in my talks, but make it legit, like, 'a man named mike ness once said that, yadda yadda yadda, something re: the political climate or something'....that was always a blast and my roommate would completely drop his jaw b/c he was the only one who knew exactly what i was talking about.
btw, great thread, it's great to know there is some sanity at times inside the org.

I read some of the replies on the discussion board. Thank you. I have never used discussion boards and am only using a very old, slow computer. So feel free to paste this there as I am appreciative of the comments. They seem to be all positive and supportive. It struck me how kind they are - as if the treatment JWs deal out makes us more accepting of others. Certainly my own wonderful friends include fringe artists, musicians, playwrights, singers, a clown, gay and lesbians, actors, animal rights and greens supporters, recovering heroin and speed addicts and an ex-con. I would also like to know what one poster says I got wrong about resurrection as I wrote it to the teaching I received.
Answering a question there: Quadrant goes into every Australian newsagent. It is a right-wing magazine. (The current 'Prime Minister's favourite magazine' (quoted from his shadow opposition) and he read it.) Much more political than other mags - so a mag I knew JWs would not electively read. Originally the article was accepted into another magazine but they changed the content so much I sent it to an empathetic editor who kept it as I intended.
Reactions have been strong.
The hole I always felt began healing with exposure.
I feel loath to make a book as there are really no good memories ever with my parents and to make it able to be read I only used four windows into different ages as the relentless darkness is hard on a reader.

by Frequent_Fader_Miles inmy conscience wouldn't allow me to do otherwise.
after all, this is the country that schooled me and fed me.
i use all the infrastructure here, and am entitled to all rights and benefits that any other citizen was entitled to.

my over the top witness dad took me to a motorcycle event....all these bikers and hells angels were there. they did the national anthem and he made me and him sit through the whole thing while people were yelling at us to stand up.
wonder why i have panic attacks now? hrmm. too many idiotic situations like that in a family that bought 100% into the society and clung to every word spoken from the platform.
when i was young and went with witnesses to baseball games, i'd just make sure to buy a soda and hot dog during the anthem.

Does anyone need any JW books, brochures, etc.?
by exwitless inwe have a bunch of books that are wasting a lot of valuable bookshelf space: songbooks (the gold ones), nwts, the jw history book, insight on the scriptures, and most of the little dumb books.
we also have a few brochures, tracts, and some kingdom ministry brochures called "the new millennuim - what does the future hold".
we have the entire bible on cassette tape, the wt library 2000 on cd, and lots of other stuff.. someone was asking on another thread about the old school brochure.

GETTING EVEN WITH JUNK MAILERS.....

i got six applications in the mail today.
i've phoned these numbskulls before and told them to stop sending me this stuff, as i don't want their credit cards.
