I suspect it?s quite difficult for a government to peacefully ban the thoughts and beliefs of anyone.
However, banning a quantifiable ?business? of religion, now that?s another thing.
I suspect the government backed Russian Orthodox Church?s financial officers weren?t all that pleased with having to compete with an American based, religious publications money making machine, particularly on Russian turf.
Perhaps this episode has more to do with American economic opportunity and a display of Russian financial sovereignty between cosmic name-droppers, than any professed concern for humanity relative to the state of either marketed dogma.
Now, if Corporate Jehovah could swing a deal, and make it financially worthwhile for both sides, perhaps it could be business as usual, going forward.

INSIDER TRADING.....
by Mary inok, we all know that martha stewart was found guilty on all charges the other day.
while i'm no fan of hers, i think the millions it's cost u.s. taxpayers to prosecute her is totally out of relation to the offense.
no one lost their job, pension or life savings because of what she did.

About a 1 1/2 years ago, when Nortel stock was at it's all time low, $0.69/share, someone told me that he knew that Nortel was getting some big contract from a company in China (I think) and that I should buy some shares now while the price was so low.
Mary, a year and a half ago when Nortel was at .69, the out come of "Shock and Awe" was the only thing on most investors minds. If you had the guts, and as crass as it sounds, you could have bought almost anything the day after Sept 11, 2001, the invasion of Afgahnistan, the second Iraq War, and today you would be sitting pretty today.
The trick is, would you have had the fortitude to sacrifice the purchase of 10000 US dollars worth of stock in virtually anything when everyone from pundits to You Know were screaming about the demise of this economic system as we know it.
At the time, that would have been a very, very difficult decision to make, but in hind sight...so obvious.

Absolutely not! Being forced by my parents to be a cash consumer of Jehovah's publications and an unpaid performer so Jehovah's earthly corporation can retain its Government sanctioned tax-exempt status, is an experience relatively few people get to have.

Which One Lie Hurt You The Most About Jehovahs Witnesses?
by shamus inwhich one teaching really hurt you when you found out that it was not true?
my number one thing is finding out that the name "jehovah" was not in the bible like it was in the new world translation (tm).
christians did not call god "jehover" "jehovah" or by his first name, no more than you would call your father by his first name when you were a child.

Watchtower study today at meeting
by dustyb inwell, looks like they do have a new date for the conclusion of the end, and that we should "be prepared".
even some people that commented said that 90 years of the 120 years have passed by and we should be prepared for the time at hand.
2034 people, 2034.... i've had enough, i'm talkign to the elder about this one, i don't care if i get labelled or not.

Wasn?t it announced by the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab a few years ago that the "near earth orbit" asteroid; 1999 AN10 was due to significantly intersect the Earth?s plane 30 or 40 years out with extremely remote, but potentially catastrophic results?
Much of the media hype has currently been put on the back burner, but I wouldn?t be surprised that as the occurrence of this scientific fact nears, the associated religious fervor will be a much welcomed boost for North American fundamentalist tax-free revenue over the next thirty years.

Megs..perhaps you are like a dub magnet..Megadude the Great Attractor....has a nice ring to it.
I bought a ?Dub Magnet? at the MGM store in Vegas a couple of years ago?trouble was, when I tried using it at home the pioneer wiggled so much he kept sliding down the refrigerator door.
I agree Mega' that many coincidinks must seem pretty creepy. I'm only working on a couple of saturday morning wonders who need to pad their magazine quota by dropping off a couple every so often and who think I enjoy the articles because I'm nice to them. However, most of the articles are so watered down and generic these days that they've become a remedial version of TIME magazine, if that's possible, so usually, it's into the recycling bin they go.
Like the Borg could care where the 'zines end up as long as somebody along the line 'donates' cash for the rags they manufacture by the millions.
