  since we have a new light brothers and sisters (see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/147354/1.ashx), that says that generation jesus was talking about are the anointed still living in earth... well... don't you worry.

  i have the power to delay armageddon just for you.

  in the next commemoration i will eat the bread and drink the wine, so while i am alive you don't have to worry.

  i'm really sick and tired.. yes, sick and tired of the weirdos, sickos, the mentally ill that need to be institutionalized for their own good, the homeless, the beggars, the drug addicts, the free clinic waiting rooms full of sick people who could be carrying tb and the like.. so i quit my job, and i'm starting a new one tomorrow.

  i'm leaving one job for another.. actually, seeing all those things was too painful after a while.. what, you think i was leaving jwd?.

  i have brought this up before, however, am posting, again, for lurkers and new ones to the board.

  this is an addendum to the threads on the generation change, etc....... the 144,000 is taken out of the tribes.

  i have, yet, to see an explanation of who the tribes are.. this is what will happen:.

  Testing what you believe

  a news editorial i read this morning regarding protests/banning of the books golden compass from the his dark materials trilogy (soon to also be a movie) got me thinking about testing faith.

  these books are apparently an answer to c.s.

  lewis's chronicles of narnia, presenting an athiest perspective to lewis's "overtly christian" one.. as a jw i used to like the scripture about the boreans who daily tested their faith by "carefully examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so" acts 17:11. in retrospect now, of course, i wonder how it is possible to take that attitude and still remain a blind follower, although apparently my borean-like approach freed me!.

  If as a christian, and you soundly believe your faith is unshakable,

  then seeing a movie that presents an opposing view of what you believe should not be enough to remove your faith.

  If those christians who are opposed to this movie just realized that they are acting like ignorant ostriches sticking their heads in the sand,

  perhaps they would rethink their 'knee-jerk' reaction to such an insignifigant thing as a fictitious movie.

  It's just like with Brown's The DaVinci Code. It didn't bring the catholic church to it's knees like they were so afraid of.

  Funny, if any religion is so scared they they can be brought down simply by an idea or a fictional story,

  then that religion should seriously consider dismantling itself or revamp their entire doctrine foundation alltogether.

  hardest conversation of my life

  moments ago, i talked to my mom.. i told her that i was taking some time off from going to meetings and service.. the conversation went down hill from there.. as her usual she just dismissed my reasons as if they meant nothing.. i pointed to the child molestations as my main reason for leaving.. "you are being over-sensitive", "jehovah takes care of things in his own time", "rely on jehovah".

  those were the catch phrases of the conversation.. a new one was: "what have you been reading?".

  i have a hard time standing up to my mother.

  I'm glad you have your own place and a job you love that is important!

  Sometimes, family won't allow us to just fade.

  You are not DA'ing yourself by not going to meetings..

  They can't DA you simply for not going to meetings.

  They cannot DA you because of what you said about the molestations either.

  Well they can if they like, but it would not be proper procedure.

  Hang in there! We love you and we give our strength and encouragement to you.

  You really don't have to talk about anything you don't want to.

  You can still take your mother's calls, just tell her that your meeting attendance is between you and Jehovah.

  Use their own JW doctrine against them.

  Tell her she is going above your head by telling you what to do. tell her that the woman's role is to be SILENT.

  that'll make her go and shut her up for a second.

  Then tell her you are very busy and to call back at a later time, then hang up.

  She will get the message loud and clear that you no longer see her as an authority.

  I would move and not tell them where you are.

  That's what I would do.

  Take the girl you love and get the hell out of dodge.

  Your family sounds insanely toxic.

  Sorry meta, I had no idea you were up against such freakishly controlling people.

  You have to stand up for yourself. I know it's hard, but they will back down when you do it.

  You teach people how to treat you, so now teach them to respect you and respect your privacy.

  At least you are not living with her.

  Set boundaries now.

  You are in control over your life.

  Tell her you are an adult now and as an adult you are making your own decisions,

  and that you expect her to respect them as you respect hers.

  Don't pick up the phone when she calls. Don't pick up the phone when the witnesses call.

  Don't come to the door when they come to your place. You don't have to talk to anyone you don't want to!

  Get the book, Toxic Parents. READ IT! it will help you break free from her controlling hold over you.

  in the world today (especially in america) we believe that we can do what ever we want or will to do, but god still rules the universe, and according to his word there are some things that we can not do.

  unless god wills!

  Is the reason why I no longer believe in the Bible, nor do I believe it is inspired.

  That does not mean I discount a much higher power.

  I just think this large force is beyond our perception, bigger than needing to destroy puny humans for not worshipping it.

  Christians, Jews/Hebrews & Islams, have created god way too Human, and way too Small Hearted, imho.

  Yaweh, Jesus and Allah are all one and the same ''god''. A god created by man.

  Here is one thing we cannot do - fly by flapping our arms.
