  personally, i consider myself as a "soft-atheist".

  i don't believe in god but i keep an open mind and if someone can come with a real proof of god's existence, i'll take it.

  for now, i consider that believing in god, is just as silly as believing in santa claus.

  i remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".

  i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.

  although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.

  He had a great first day..said he couldnt wait for the second day . I was 'cool' too...no tears were shed. But that is in part because just as the kids were getting ready to depart the gym with their teachers the principal called all the parents to be seated and then 'trapped' us there to listen to his 1 HOUR principals address. By the time it was over I forgot all about being sad ....all I could think of was how bad I needed some coffee!

  Ps..funch, we are living in jersey again yay! i'm already saving up for our first game at the linc. my son wont let me rest until we see a game live. at the rate were saving we should be able to get to a game before he starts high school! we should definately hook up for a game (on tv) some time this season..gimme a holler.

  Serena Williams (Dishonors) American Flag!

  friends, i apologize if this is old information.

  sometimes i can't keep up with (all) the posts here.

  the thread lists this as (janurary 25, 2003) so thats why i thought it to be old.. i remember that serena williams had (won) the cup and championship, and was photographed carrying the american flag, or engaging in what (some people) considered as (idolatry),--but what was (news) to me, was the fact that she was also photographed (dishonoring) the american flag as well.

  Wasnt she born and raised a witness? She probably had no idea about the rules on the flag, I know I wouldn't know what they are and I've been out a few years now. Shes just trying to keep her bum clean and the flag was the closest thing to sit on. Kinda funny actually. Its all those little things like that which sheltered witnesses never learn that are so hard to catch up on once you leave.

  How do you handle JWs interacting with your children?

  this has been on my mind lately.

  i'll probably end up having kids in the near future, and i would not want my mother preaching to my children.. so, i must ask, how do you handle your jw relatives who try to preach to your children?

  how do you deal with a "gift" like my book of bs?

  I haven't had the conversation with my fam about not teaching my son their religion but I am very close to saying something if he keeps coming home and mentioning God. I dont want to rock the boat right now and I dont know what the reaction will be. Right now I just dont let him visit on meeting nights or service days.
