My father was removed for a short time because he 'wasnt presiding over his household in an exemplary manner'. In other words, my brothers were sneaking out at night and getting into trouble. Everything was the same but he no longer conducted the watchtower study on Sundays. Apparently its a requirement that you be able to control your own family before you can 'shepherd the flock'. Once he kicked all the trouble making children out of the house he was reinstated.

Feels very good to say...I've never heard of that book. :)
I agree, once they start talking to people the plan might fall apart.

Suppose Brooklyn Changed The Rules On Disfellowshipping?
by Englishman insuppose the society "adjusted their thinking" on the matter of disfellowshipping.
would you still feel so angry with the witnesses?
it occurs to me that df'ing is the bottom line when it comes to being obedient.

Without the dfing policy the org would be gone within a few years. Thats the only thing keeping most people from asking hard questions and exploring their doubts. Without that threat the information we all have would flow within the org and thered be a mass exodus. The org isnt stupid enough to do away with dfing.

Finally it snowed on a weekend, no need to worry about rush hour traffic. yay! Snow is so pretty on the weekend. It looks so much different than on a week day when you have to dig yourself out and go to work lol.
Weve already gotten a foot and its supposed to keep snowing all through the night. Unfortunately its the light fluffy kind that doesnt work well for snowmen or snowball fights...but it should make a nice snow angel :).
We probably wont get as much as you guys in New England and thats ok with me since I'll have to dig out eventually.

The "BRAG AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ABOUT YOUR KIDS" thread
by outbutnotdown inon my "backyard rink" thread some of us were bragging about our kids.
confusedjw and scootergirl shared their kids' hockey and skating successes.. i thought it would be cool to have a thread where parents (and other relatives) could post their kids' achievements as they come along.. births, first steps, first words, sports/academic achievements, etc.
i'll start:.

The "BRAG AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ABOUT YOUR KIDS" thread
yay! my favorite thing in the world is bragging about my kid.
This week the thing I am most proud of is that he learned the entire Eagles fight song in one night lol. I love to see him as excited about football as I am. Cant wait to see his eyes light up when we go to the superbowl parade! Go EAGLES!

I agree with the majority who posted above and I also find it fascinating that people have such a hard time with the concept that we are no more special than any other living creature. As humans we protect ourselves from the painful concept of nonexistance by inventing the 'afterlife'. I suppose for many its a good thing to hang onto the fantasy so that they can move on with their lives. Kinda like Cypher couldnt handle the reality in the Matrix and needed the fantasy.

How has Tsunami affected you personaly?
by Brummie inhas it changed you're outlook on life all together?
i know we are only the "lucky" bystanders but sometimes its still good to reflect on how we feel internally about these crisis.
i have only just been able to turn from the news, i'll probably have it back on in the next few minutes.

I'm like sunnygal, I have a difficult time not being affected by other peoples traumatic events. I have only followed it in the print news as I dont watch the tv news very often but two nights ago I turned on CNN for the first time and I was in tears listening and watching some of the person stories. I couldnt help imagining it was my kid who ended up alone in the jungle like the little swedish boy or hanging on to the top of a tree like another not to mention those smashed around like little rag dolls. I sobbed and then I let my son crawl into bed with me that night although I normally insist he stay in his own room through the night...actually I went and got him. :-( The images are too disturbing..I'll stick to the print news.
