predictably, i'm pretty nervous.

does anyone have advice as far as what are good conversation ice breakers and subjects that work well for date talk.

I already know the obvious (don't bring up sex, don't talk about your mother/ex-girlfriends, etc.), but I'm afraid I'm going to sit down at the table and have nothing to say to this woman.

My favorite part of the "battle" was the first clash of the book bag and pitchfork, where the "weapons" hit that bell and made it almost sound like two swords clashing. Classic.

Things would pop up in my history from time to time, but I'd just say it was a pop-up and my parents believed me. Heck, they already believed that porn just pops up without any warning or you specifically searching for it, I figured why not indulge them? Now that there are a ton of Youtube-like porn sites, all you need to do is clear your browser history and you're home free. No need for hidden porn folders named "tax documents" or anything like that.

many of us have had our ups and downs in relationships.

that being said, from what i've noticed people tend to put more effort and emphasis in picking a career or employment and being choosy about that - than putting the time into meeting and getting to know what kind of person they would like to have a relationship with.

so many people leave it up to random selection - not much thought - then they wonder down the road why they are getting burned !

I just want someone that I can relax and be myself around, you know, like what everybody wants. Personality is very important to me. It affects my perception of her physical appearance even. Obviously, there are limits, but I'm generally not as "picky" when it comes to looks. As long as she has good hygiene, is human-shaped, and can make me laugh, she's got my attention.

i wasn't sure i was ready for it, but i did it anyway...i put out a personal ad.

i've gotten a few responses, but nothing seems promising yet.

i get the feeling that internet dating is more about quantity than quality, but i think that's what i need right now.

I get the feeling that internet dating is more about quantity than quality, but I think that's what I need right now. Growing up as a JW you can't really go on a real, actual DATE date with anybody because you either need to be in a group or bring a chaperone. I want to experience that, even if it's a bad date.

Other than the internet, I just have no idea how I'm going to meet people. I hate bars and clubs because I'm not a dancer and I'm very self-conscious. For those of you who managed to find a love life after the organization, how did you do it?

my first interesting experience happened within the kingdom hall.

What an amazing story about Bonham. Unfortunately I couldn't see that many JWs be able to think for themselves en masse like that and break away from the society today.

Why we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving. It's a completely secular holiday and wasn't around until Abe Lincoln made it a holiday. Before then it was just a peculiar New England tradition. I knew the whole "pagan harvest festival" idea was malarky.

I hate to be on the unpopular side of this, but this guy is obviously deranged himself and his story, including the "rape" by JW elders I find very suspect. Normally I'd accept that a victim wasn't lying, but the fact that this guy is talking about elder rape gangs along with demon possession and all sorts of other weird, crazy things, it's probably made up. It might be true, but I definitely wouldn't go on just his word.
