I was born and raised in the north by southern parents--so I am quite, quite familiar with grits and love it!!!!! I guess you could say I'm a GRITS girl too because I have that southern culture.

Why does the society try to keep the R&F so busy?

we all have our dark side.

I was thinking this morning on some things, and the story/series on HBO currently, CARNIVALE, is showing the not so nice side of humanity. WE ALL have our dark side. Everybody in this world has one, I believe.
So I came to the conclusion that might be one reason why the society tries keeps the R&F so busy doing "righteous things" and thinking "righteously", etc. Instead of openly admitting that because of human imperfection, we do have dark sides, and as long as we don't act on them we shouldn't worry so much, this part of humanity is absolutely ignored OR is blamed on Satan and the demons.
Do any of you have similar thoughts?

THEY'VE DONE IT!!!! The WBTS set a new date!
by dmouse inthe latest watchtower, dec 15th 2003, is an out and out attack on the rank and file for dropping into a drowsy state spiritually.
ok, so armageddon didn't come before the generation of 1914 grew old and died.
but does that mean that the big a isn't near?

DO MORE 'TIL 34!!!!!
We are having the visit of our circuit overseer this week (tomorrow is his last day with our congregation). He hinted in his talk on Tuesday night that there is a trend being noticed that all publishers seem to want to do is the minimal--placing magazines and that's it. No return visits or attempts to start Bible studies. He read some scriptures about the apostle Paul and how dedicated he was to his ministry--even a quote from him saying he owed the people a debt of preaching the good news. We should be that way too--we are in debt to the people of the world--we owe them the good news. He also hinted that if we don't preach, well could be our fault that these people are "scheduled to be destroyed at Armageddon." (Do more) On Thursday night he mentioned (we have a small congregation of 79 publishers) that since a few more have been added to the ranks of regular pioneers, this brought down our congregation average from 8.5 to 7.5 so that means the congregation will have to work harder to bring our average back up. (Do more) I truly wonder what would happen if an entire congregation were regular pioneers--they would have to work hard to get just average congregation publishers (a regular Joe) to come to that congregation and keep them publishers? Then the society's viewpoint that everybody should be a pioneer is a contradictory one. Oh well...just venting here. I hope I didn't hijack the thread.

please be reminded of this alternative now that the watchtower society has brought horrible reproach upon god's good name.

Last time I looked there was a post at the top of the page that said 'All Welcome'. How welcome has this poster been made to feel? One of the things I didn't like about being a jw was being told what I could and couldn't believe, and them having a go at people if they didn't believe the same things as them. Thats what I've just seen, people having a go at him because he believed different things to them. Personally, I disagree with what he believes, but if he has that faith then good for him if he wants to follow it, we're all free people. I respect people who have a faith, because I myself have none. And the main thing is that they are trying to take people away from the wbts, and isn't that what we all want? Different people want different things. There was a thread a few days ago about not being happy with all the fluff on here because it put some people off because they still believed in Jehovah just not in what was happening with the organisation(I think Nickey started it, but correct me if I'm wrong). This sort of thing might have been just what they're looking for, an important first step to get them out of the wbts and able to start looking at things for themselves, and then they might progress onto here anyway. Different people need different things. And I thought it was out of order for people to have a go at somebody because they believed something they didn't like while at the same time attacking the wbts for shunning people who didn't follow their believe system.
What I don't like is bashing other religions---and the WTB&TS is most definitely guilty of that. But yet The Church of Jehovah is doing the same thing. I still believe in God, but struggling with the name he prefers to be called. How do we know its supposed to be Yahweh,Jehovah, or whatever variation of the name? Anyway, I am very hestitant to join any group that bashes. Even though the governing body has its faults, and the are shameful, they have also taught some good things...even though they attach guilt with the majority of their teachings.

I am open enough to believe that it's possible we came from a "primordeal soup" which of course was created by God. We need to realize that the Bible contains 6000 years of recorded human history.

For the most part I stayed at home with my kids too. You will NEVER regret it if you do. I think it makes them more independent.

I'm angry at myself for not heeding the warning signs and call off my wedding in 1970, because of the position the WTB&TS took about letting your "yes" mean "yes" and your "no" mean "no" once you are engaged. That the congregation should expect you to get married.

Right or Well?
by startingover ini don't know who wrote this but i found it interesting.
i heard a funny story about a cowboy who ambled into the local blacksmith shop and picked up a horseshoe, not realizing it had just come from the forge.
he immediately dropped the hot shoe, shoved his seared hand into his pocket and tried to act nonchalant.
