The problem with this 'worldly' man's statement is that he never was a JW and doesn't realize what many went through. If it was a former JW that said that, the reaction will be different because people would see that person had lived this false lie and understood the things that went on.

What is the Society's stand on illegal immigrants?
by cruzanheart ini've been away long enough (thank god) that i don't know what the party line is anymore about this.
when i was "in" i studied with a nice woman from venezuela and, when my mom found out she was in the country illegally, she stopped the study and told yomaira that we couldn't study with her until she got her immigration status cleared up.
this was back in the late 1970's.. however, i spoke with a jw friend this past weekend and it was taken for granted that a family member's caregivers -- who are witnesses in good standing going to the spanish congregation -- are not here legally.

I don't know how to quote here but: 'Despite a federal law that requires local governments to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency, many large urban cities (and some small) have adopted so-called "sanctuary policies." Generally, sanctuary policies instruct city employees not to notify the federal government of the presence of illegal aliens living in their communities. The policies also end the distinction between legal and illegal immigration -- so illegal aliens often benefit from city services too.' Caesar's Law is convoluted in the US when local governments circumvent federal laws for their own gain. Nobody knows where the US government stands on those that come to the country illegally. Are they securing the borders or are they granting amnesty? They are sending mix signals especially President George Bush. Its not just JWs who harbor illegals, other religious organizations do the same.

The Mark of the Beast.....
by A-Team inthe real id act, to go into effect may 12, 2008 or december 2009.
starting three years from now, if you live or work in the united states, you'll need a federally approved id card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect social security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service.
practically speaking, your driver's license likely will have to be reissued to meet federal standards.

Its good we have differing opinions on this subject. The microchips are similiar to a grain of rice. There will be no second guessing once the edict is passed to implant or be beheaded. The time of it happening is still up to debate, whether it will be during our lifetime or our children's.

Elders' wives and elders' kids - any different from the RnF?
by Inquisitor inelder's wives - the general impression of them in my congregation is that they are not to be messed with.
ews are all smiles in front of guests but brutally unaccomodating to more familiar brothers and sisters.
they put much effort in making "good" comments at the meetings, with the occasional veiled insult directed at certain individuals (i suppose this is the only outlet for a lady in jehovah's patriarchy).

The elders wives in my old congregation knew all the decisions of that were made in the elders meetings

I've thinking of the positives of such as one of these digital ID implants. It can be used to track missing children when they get abducted by a family member. What about someone who is lost in the backcountry and cannot find their way back home. What about if a family is unconscious in a burning home, the firefighters can use this technology to locate and save those people. If you got a Bible-based background, then I understand why there is a lot of apprehension toward this technology. Yet we need to realize that any technology can be used for right and wrong depending on those who are in charge.

Its not necessarily a bad thing to have a digital ID implanted into one's body. There is nothing to fear if we are good citizens and aren't doing anything to break the laws of the land.
