Suggestions for JW Girlfriend?
by Mincan inso i've been seeing this jw girl for a couple weeks now... she kind of contacted me out of the blue (i've known her since i was 4, shes two years older than i) and wanted to hook up for coffee or something.
i avoided it for about half a month.
not really avoided it, but was going to have fun with it when it came, because i thought she was just going to try to encourage me to go to meetings and whatnot.. so, first time she calls me up at like 9:30pm on a weeknight to come over to her house... so i ride my bicycle over and go inside and she and her cousin were getting drunk on alcohol and they started getting me to drink.

by Farkel inhow far we've come in just the last ten years.. just ten short years ago, the term jw "apostate" still carried a stigma of held-over shame to most ex-jws and they rarely called themselves by that term.
i wore that badge proudly, but i had already been out of the wts for over 20 years by then.
slowly, but steadily the term went from shame to neutral to a badge of honor!

I believe that there is not just one person that can be your soul mate. There could be several different ones that we could truly connect with, physically, intellectually, emotionally, romantically, and spiritually. However, I think the odds of finding even one those people that are perfect for us are very low.
To me a kindred spirit is one that is the same sex or at least the sex that you would not be interested in romantically. I really think that a soul mate has to be one that you are compatible with sexually as well. To me a kindred spirit and a soul mate are similar but definitely not the same.
The question is: do we believe we will find that person or do we settle for someone that, while not a soul mate, fits comfortably ? Personally, at my age and especially at this point in my life, I have no intention of ever settling again. It's all or nothing. -

That's funny...I thought I started posting my first day on the internet. I guess not because this is my first post. I think Terry was kind enought to point out to me that I was yelling by using all caps.
<b>I HAVEN'T LEFT, ALTHOUGH I'VE NOT BEEN TO A MEETING IN SEVERAL WEEKS. I'VE SPENT ABOUT 8 HRS. A DAY ON THE "EVIL" INTERNET FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, NOW I'M TRYING TO SORT EVERYTHING OUT. THE FIRST WEEK I WAS TOTALLY FREAKED OUT. THE WHOLE U.N./N.G.O. THING WOKE ME UP, THEN THE HORROR OF THE "SILENT LAMBS" COMPLETELY SICKENED ME. I'VE ALWAYS HAD MISGIVINGS ABOUT THE FDS, NOT BEING ALLOWED TO RESEARCH OUTSIDE OF WHAT IS PROVIDED AS SPIRITUAL FOOD, AND THE CRITICISM OF ANYTHING CLOSE TO AN INDEPENDANT THOUGHT. I FEEL LIKE A ZOMBIE WALKING AROUND IN A SURREAL TWILIGHT ZONE.
SO, I'M READING LIKE A MADWOMAN, AND PRINTING AND HIGHLIGHTING AND FILING LIKE A "CONSPIRACY THEORY" LUNATIC. UP UNTIL THE LAST FEW DAYS I'VE BEEN IN SHOCK AND DENIAL. NOW I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF I CAN EVEN PRETEND I'M STILL CLUELESS JUST LONG ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH THE CONVENTION. IT HAS HELPED TREMENDOUSLY TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE.
