yes, the long-awaited vaccine entered my bloodstream yesterday at 5 pm.. as steve martin humorously remarked, "good news/bad news.

good news: i just got vaccinated!

bad news: i got it because i'm 75.

I think that I want some of the same vaccine these husky nurses got. Which vaccine was it, I wonder? I suppose that if it is no longer available, then I may have to force myself up off this couch and do an extra trip or two to the refrigerator just for the exercise -- but ONLY if it will give me muscles like them there nurses.

The video of Winston's that you posted (in which you said to "jump to 7:15") had the very information my thread is seeking--namely the specific reasons why Russia considers the JWs to be extremists. However, there's the nagging little problem that right where it mattered the most Winston failed to cite the source of what was being said. (Son-of-a-gun, Sir Winston, is that the best you can do?) It's difficult to tell whether Winston is quoting a newspaper or what, and without that important detail what was being said/quoted carries little weight.

At any rate, thank you "was a new boy" for your fine effort at addressing the question which this thread poses. It was Winston that dropped the ball, not you.

Russia's reason for banning Jehovah's Witnesses is said to be due to EXTREMISM. But what exactly does that mean, or refer to? Specifically, what practice (or practices) of Jehovah's Witnesses does Russia consider to be EXTREME? I am asking this because I have yet to read an article on the subject that sheds enough light. I am always left wondering WHICH of the many practices of Jehovah's Witnesses is it that has caused the Russian Authorities to take such a stand against them and to confiscate all of their properties.

Do any of you here have a clue about this? If so, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Was it because of any of the following reasons?

JWs refuse to do military service.
JWs do not get involved in politics.
JWs refuse to salute a national emblem.
JWs teach that the worldwide political system is under the control of Satan.
JWs consider the Russian Orthodox Church (which Putin happens to be a member of) to be a false religion.
JWs believe that they alone have the truth.
JWs peculiar stand regarding "blood".
JWs don't celebrate birthdays or holidays.
JWs disciple-making work, going door-to-door.
JWs have a disfellowshipping policy that sometimes "divides families".

Was it because of ALL of the above?

Was it because of SOME of the above?

Was it because of NONE of the above?

a few minutes ago i posted in a topic that is 10 years old, and i had hoped that the thread would be brought back to the top but it didn't happen.

the thing is that the subject matter is still as relevant today as it was a decade previous.. the title to the thread was/is: "is there (was there ever) an anglo american dual world power?".

for anyone who hasn't read the thread i highly recommend that you do.

If a JW becomes inactive is he then labeled as an apostate?

i have heard a rumor that if a jw becomes inactive he or she is considered to be an apostate.

is this true?

has anyone here on this forum had such an experience?

Thank you, Minimus and Dubstepped. So far, no one seems to know of an actual case in which a JW has been labeled an apostate for becoming inactive. Where I heard the "rumor" I referred to in my opening post was while I was watching an ex-JW's YouTube video. The person flat out swore that it is a fact, and his wife backed him up by saying it is true. That's what got me to wondering if maybe I had some catching up to do, although I had my doubts at the same time. I'm not saying the person and his wife are lying; perhaps they have misunderstood something or don't have all the facts. Or perhaps it is a fact, but an isolated case in which certain members of the congregation have foolishly called an inactive person an apostate. Immature or thoughtless people do dumb things sometimes. I can cite an actual example of something dumb that I overheard a long, long time ago while attending an Assembly. My wife and I were relatively new at the time. It had become time to go home and the volunteers had already started their cleaning work as my wife and I were leaving the building. As we were walking towards the exit we happened to notice that two of the brothers sweeping the floor nearby were members of our Congregation. And as plain as day we heard one exclaim to the other, "All we need is another nut !!!" It didn't sound like he was trying to be funny, he sounded very serious, like he was really disgusted at someone. I'm sure that the person who said that was at least a Ministerial Servant at the time if not an Elder, and he would go on to become the Presiding Overseer about 5 to 6 years later. It shocked me hearing a JW talk in such a dumb, abrasive, way like that, and I have never forgotten it. That was many a year ago, and I hope that he eventually grew up.

Thanks for your comment but it doesn't seem to support or warrant viewing an inactive JW as an apostate, and particularly if the JW is weak spiritually (like Clarkey stated) or perhaps is going through some kind of an extreme hardship or has been traumatized by some event in life (like a child or one's mate having died).
