Too much fact and common sense. That has no place on an religious forum.;)

A question about Nephilim
by whyizit init seems like the nephilim are a favorite subject of my jw friend.
it's one of the first things she likes to bring up with people to show how much she "knows" about the bible.
of course, many christians also believe that the nephilim are the result of a sexual union between fallen angels and humans.

Or maybe some women used the story to explain unexpected pregnancies? Who knows
Now that sounds legitimate.

JW's, not apostates, are trapped in the snare of trembling at men
by Must obey! inthe society and it's circuit overseers love to harp on about apostates being caught in the "trap of the birdcatcher".
(psalm 91:3) but it is jw's who are hopelessly trapped in another, equally dangerous snare.
proverbs 29: 25 "trembling at men is what lays a snare, but he that is trusting in jehovah will be protected.".

I do not think, you will find many here that wiil argue the power/control points. The denial does run deep though. Some are very fucked up by what has been done to them. Even more so, what they have done to themselves. The beauty of religion is how they get you to beat yourself up. It is pshycological warfare.

WAR IS OVER-IF YOU WANT IT
by proplog2 inchristmas is the time to talk about peace.
jesus is called the prince of peace.. john lennon and yoko ono put out posters that read "war is over - if you want it".. peace doesn't depend on scientific progress.
it certainly doesn't take prosperity and riches to have peace.

I think you are trying to say, what a stupid thread. The refusal to go to war would have served Joshua and David no purpose. Jehovah is a god of war. The first thing Jesus did is sling tables in the temple and curse out the saducee's. These two love an conflict. Jehovah kills babies to make an point. Jesus is his son/him/one of some/ maybe three, the point is. Someone is going to die! These two are not negotiators. JW's are missing the point!

Horrible Apostates fall into Jehovahs Trap
by Jim Dee inas you guys are probably aware, the new watchtower for studying has shed new light on the generations issue (ie whoops we got it wrong, we were right before) .
the co's here in aus have been briefed to inform the congregation (either formally or informally) that is is part of the cunning of jehovah .
when jesus parted the non beleiver disciples from the core 12 (or was it 13) he made an outrageous statement and watched the weak walk off - thats exactly what jehovahs organisation has done today .

I hope someone tells the CO that this type of behavior is not in line with God's character per the book of James where it says that God doesn't test anyone. I've ALWAYS had a problem with the sifting out of the weak. Shepherding calls are to encourage the weak, the pioneer assistance program is to assist the weak, so why don't they just get rid of these arrangements and the weak will just fall off by themselves. If God doesn't want anyone to be destroyed, as the bible says, then why would he promote a lie just to get rid of the weak? Wouldn't he want to win them over into his fold instead of pushing them away? Somebody's lying, either the WTBS or the bible, because it can't be both ways.
Wonderful logic! It is all lies, all of it. The shear fear of disassociation is the single most powerful tool. The seperation of loves/loved ones is both vicious and cunning. A wolf in sheeps clothing comes to mind.

Jehovah, the God of Justice, Executes the Wicked
by TMS inthe phrases still roll off my tongue, "a god of tender mercies", a god in whom there is no injustice", a god who "protects the little one.".
in spite of those worn out platitides, if i walked in to a court room and saw the name "jehovah god" in metallic letters on the door, i would ask my attorney to make a motion to have the judge recused.
i would prefer to take my judicial chances with any ticket-fixing, bribe-taking, alcoholic, mafia-controlled human judge than face the uneven, irrational and obscene judicial decisions made by god jehovah.. i cite the case of king david of israel.

Regarding Carlin. He makes an very good point concerning plans and prayer. If he is real and has an divine plan. What is he waiting for? He can't end, he is omnipotent. What does he have to prove? The bible says he is all powerfull, he says he is all powerfull. Who is questioning his sovereignty? It can only be those below him. So what is the problem? Lunacy, shear lunacy.

The Ot says that God did everything to have people change but there came a point when he just had to act. I undestand how one can get angry with God.
I think(hope) that in the long scheme of things God will find a way to forgive everyone. We are all his creatures and all related to each other. Knowing the type of God that HE is, Almighty, I believe that there can even be hope for anyone in the distant future. In the meantme, God's justice must act to stop forces that harm the meek and helpless.
Who forgives god then? Should an almighty, all knowing not contain some infinite level of self control?

Glowball Worming: Is the science settled?
by BurnTheShips init looks like the scientific "consensus" is not really there, is it?.
.

Speaking of glowball's, here is a neat recipe.
Take a 20 oz bottle of mellow yellow, pour all of it out except about a quarter of the bottle. Put in around 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 3 capfulls of hydrogen peroxide. Put the lid on and shake it up.
You can pour it on most anything and it will be dayglow, nuclear waste yellow/green!

Analyzing fiction is an act of utter futility. Better things can be done with ones time.
