  NEED COMPUTER GURUS

  windows 98 (this is the same) with office suite 2002 (upgrade).

  see if microsoft can help with the printing problem.

  does it make sense to do what my boss thinks should be done or go with what is dept.

  Throw the damm thing out the window...that will solve the gremlins,then your boss will have to get you a nice shiny new puter.

  The most reasonable suggestion so far. Alternatively, switch to a company that hires competent IT staff. Unfortunately, in the last years, IT hiring has been dumbed down enormously - management seems to think that "it's Windows, anyone can handle that, so we might as well hire trained monkeys". To some extent, that is correct: even Microsoft certified experts often suggest desparate pseudo-solutions like "just reboot the thing" or "let's just reinstall everything". There's usually not much more you can do, since it's often practically impossible to find out what exactly the problem is. That's why many IT professionals hate Microsoft software passionately.

  Buy yourself lots of Dilbert books in the meantime. They won't fix your computer, but they will lighten up your day.

  Absolutely. As some others mentioned before, there's the Kingdom Hall language ("upbuilding", "the world", "this system"...). I think if you've heard that often enough, your subconscious can pick it up long before you become aware of it.

  A dead giveaway is the phrase "I know Jehovah's Witnesses very well", sometimes followed by "and they're the nicest people to be around" or "and if everyone was like them...".

  How much painful mental and emotional acrobatics does it take to smile to a stranger while telling him he's going to die soon?

  How is that NOT the perfect breeding ground for depression?

  if we compare what is important, who was killing ech other inn 2 wordwar, yes, inn the hart of christianity,.

  who was a part of all killing inn ruwanda and former yougoslavia, yes, religion as catolic, musslim, grrek otodox and some more, have a very bigg responsiality, million of peopel was killd inn this mess, priests was blessing on both sides.. wat the bilbel sais is clear, dont bee like kain who killd his brother, and you must love even your animy,.

  Man, I've said it before, Metatron said it, and I'll repeat it: JWs are NOT unique in their opposition to war. If you don't know that, you're just as clueless as most JWs are about other religions. Actually, as religions go, there is hardly anything unique about Dubland.

  p.s.: This is an honest question: are you unable to write normally, or do you just don't give a damn about spelling? English isn't my first language either, but I see no reason to write messages that resemble line noise a whole lot more than the "pure language" supposedly spoken by JWs.

  Am I the only one noticing Happy Man's 'accent'?

  No, I find it a bit strange, too.

  Giving you the benefit of doubt for a minute, Happy Man, and assuming that you're really from Sweden, here's a true story. About two years ago, I met a young Swedish JW girl (man, was _she_ pretty - hardly 20 years old, long brunette hair, eyes like stars, and flirting like crazy). I knew she was a JW and casually asked her some questions about religion. The last lines of our conversation went something like this:

  F: "So you really think that anyone who doesn't believe 100% what JWs believe will die a gruesome death soon?!"

  JW (with a friendly smile): "Errr, no, no...no..."

  (pause)

  JW (with the same friendly smile): "...not a gruesome death, we don't know how it will happen."

  F (perplexed): "Uh...huh."

  Another Scandinavian JW in her mid-twenties told me that she didn't think people would die out on the streets, get swallowed up by cracks in the earth and eaten by birds. She speculated they would simply disappear without feeling any pain. Nice, huh? I felt so much better after that.

  As far as I know, both are still very much "in", having married faithful MSs in the meantime.

  So much for the sometimes heard opinion that today's JWs are less judgmental, or that European JWs tend to be less "radical" than those in the USA.

  forgive me if this has been covered before but i only drop in occasionally.. i seem to remember some months ago that a poster talked about the planned relocation of the british branch to milton keenes.

  i think he said that the move had been scrapped because of the lack of growth in britain?

  i also believe that this decision had been made before the sept 11th attacks.

  Wow. I mean, can they say this without blushing? WTF does the "changed scene of the world" have to do with their expansion plans in Britain? And, if I may humbly ask God's sole channel of communication on Earth: shouldn't you have expected that "changed scene", considering that we're supposed to be in the last days with the big A just around the corner?

  I can find onkly one organiserad religion who say now too this madness, can you quess the name.

  Hmmm. The Mormons? The Mennonites? Quakers? You ever heard of these?

  peropel who not are nationalistics, who are brothers and sisters dont mader if they are jude or arab, or white or blacke, or red.

  Do I have to be in any form of "organised religion", or any organisation at all, to be a good person? Do you really think only JWs are anti-nationalistic and opposed to wars? Have you noticed that the board participants have _very_ different opinions on many topics, including "patriotism", war, and ice cream flavours?

  I thought it was interesting that it brought out how easy it is to be "unwittingly exposed" to apostate material even when doing research on our beliefs.

  Ah, from the mouths of babes...we all know that pretty much everything written by the WTS more than 30, 40 years ago would be considered "apostate" today!

  That's not something I had previously thought about.

  ...because previously, I had been thinking about floss. And shoes. I think a lot about shoes. But floss is also good. I have very good teeth. Sometimes I also think about Jehovah, but that's so deep my head starts to hurt just after a minute or so. Thinking about shoes doesn't hurt. Floss doesn't hurt either, if you use it correctly. I like the waxed, mint-flavoured kind. What's your favourite floss?
