I recall attending the District Assemblies when I was a kid and there always being people outside with tracts and my parents called them "The Evil Slave Class. They were always at the major assemblies. I could be way off base here, but I seem to recall the explanation being that they were members of the 144,000 who fell away hense the name "Evil Slave Class". Like I said, I could be wrong - it was a long time ago, but they were always outside the assemblies. I remember one at Tiger Stadium, when I was 15 or 16, and there was a huge group of them that year. As we walked by, they tried to hand their literature to you. My parents always said, "DON'T TALK TO THEM - EVER". They always tried to talk to the kids and hand the pamplets to the kids. We weren't to go outside the stadium for fear we would encounter them - although you didn't go too far outside Tiger Stadium if you had a brain anyways. Does anyone hear remember this? Is anyone old enough?????

Thanks "never ending journey" and everyone for your comments. I've always wondered about this. . .how they keep people interested and controlled with the proper fear that the big A is right around the corner. I think I remember reading that there were thousands of dubs that left the organization after 75 came and went. I think I've also read, or maybe it was talked about on the last group I was on (philia) that the society tried to say they never indicated that 1975 was the year. If that's the case - that's total crap!! Those of us older ones on here remember well. As a kid, I remember by dad picking me up from my part time job one day, and there was a terrible storm. . .very black. ..lots of lightening and thunder. .. and having a look on my face of terror and my dad saying, "are you thinking Armegeddon is here"??? I think I was. . .how he knew what I was thinking amazed me. Guess he thought he had taught me well. I was on one of these sites and reading different posts (don't remember which one) but there were younger people stating that "the society never said Armegeddon was coming in 1975 - it was all witnesses who read that meaning into it". I was dumbfounded that these younger witnesses had no idea what went on back then. They must pretty well try to keep those predictions hidden from new members so as not to discourage them.

So now they are actually setting exact dates???? Wow. . .when the 1975 timeline came out. . .they were at least careful not to give specific dates. . .you know. . ."the time and hour no one knows" stuff. I'm shocked that they are actually setting exact dates. Where did you get your info? May I ask?

Hi All,
I must have missed this on my travels thru different X-dub sites, but I think I read something on here about their "new light" regarding the timing for Armegeddon. Since its been over 30 years since 1975, how do they predict Armegeddon now? What do they tell new converts regarding the 1975 debacle? Having lived thru it, but leaving a few years after, I've never heard what their new interpretation is on this subject? If there's a web site with this info. . .just direct me if its easier.

Splendid idea - a good hard pinch would do him some good!! As would some company - he likes to kind of crawl up in his cave - I think a visit would do him some good.
And yes, my pain over leaving the WT has long since passed. I guess when I think about it I have been out longer than I was in - but the feeling that it took my childhood away will always be there. My parents are still active and have jacked me around over the years - talking to me at certain times and trying to act normal and telling me they can't associate with me at other times. At this point, I've had enough. You can't jerk someone around and give your affection and take it away and do it over and over and expect any love or respect in return. Even during the times I was seeing them and talking with them though, it was nothing but WT and their friends and what they're doing and on and on and on. They never wanted to know anything about my life, my successes, my daughter, etc. It was always a very one-sided thing - which gets very old. They don't have a clue about any of the "real stuff" that goes on in their organization, but I do sometimes wonder. . .if they don't question things in their own minds. I would think it would only be natural. I remember as a teenager waiting for 1975 to come. . .and then it did. . .and then it passed and so did the rest of the 70's and then the 80's and then the 90's and now here we are. . .and still no Armegedon (forgotten how to even spell it - ~grin~). It just makes me wonder why they don't question it. . .I guess the "fear of God" keeps them from questioning anything. They have been enslaved since I was 2 years old - 1957. They even lost me at the assembly in New York - I think it was in l958, wasn't it? Can you imagine losing your child in Yankee stadium now? Times have changed. . .

Hi,
Just wanted to add to this post. . .I have two chihuahuas. . .they are the bomb!! I grew up with collies and then had a lab that weighed 90 lbs - loved him to death, but he could lay some "major cable" in the backyard. He got sick and I had to put him down. My daughter and I went for around 8 years without a pet and then she wanted a chihuahua. You know. . the passing fancy of all the "hollywood young girls". We found one in the paper one sunday, and called the lady and in an hour, off we went to see him. When we got to her house, Bruiser (as we named him) came running to the door and he looked like a rat! He didn't havae any hair yet and I gasped! Then we held him and fell in love. We've had him 3 years now and just got another puppy so he'd have a brother and someone to play with. The little new guy is named Quincy. After having a lab, I didn't think I wanted a little rat, ankle biter around, but they have more personality than you can imagine. They actually do things to make you laugh - they are the best dogs ever!! We went to California this past Janiuary and took Bruiser with us. He has sneeked into hotels all over southern California. They are pretty easy to train too. We got Quincy when we got back from California, so it was freezing cold here - too cold to try to train him to go outside, so we got the puppy pads and in about 2 weeks, he was trained to go on the pads. Now, while I was training him - it was a major pain and I cleaned up plenty of messes, but once he got the idea, he was all set. They actually have a very long life-span too - one older lady in my neighborhood has one that's 14 - she walks him every morning. A chihuahua would be a wonderful companion for your mom - they are very loyal and love to be with you and lay on your lay and be right beside you. They travel well too and love to go places with you. They really wrap you around their little paws and you can't help but adore them.
Oh yea. . .chihuahuas don't lay cable either - they give "tootsie rolls" and they just kind of fall into the grass and disappear!! Now that's the kind of dog for me!! No poop scooping!

Thank you all for all of your wonderful welcomes. I'll look forward to getting to know you but please be a bit patient with me. . .it takes me a while to learn everyone's name. It's like walking into a party with alot of people and being introduced and then trying to remember everyone's name when they come back to talk later. I'm looking forward to it . . .I'm just 10 years older now than I was last time I did this. . . my brain was probably a bit quicker then. : - )
To Sandra. . .who inquired about Dave. . .I will be sure to tell him you said hello. And yes. . .he is a wonderful man. He is very special to me and always will be - one of the best people who has ever touched my life. He's real. . .he's raw. . .and he doesn't "blow sunshine up your booty". Tells it like it is. I will always carry Dave in my heart - he's the brother I never had.
Since I just got up a while ago, I'm going to refill my coffee cup and then get outside to the yard work. Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be reading the different posts and commenting when I have something to say. . .which, you'll find, is most of the time. ~grin~

Hello everyone,
My name is Dawn and I'm a ex-JW, who has been out since l976. I live in Michigan, was born and raised here but also spent about 3 years in Austin, Texas (1 of them as a witness - the other two running amouk having fun).
I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours on the phone with my dear old buddy, Dave, (seven006) whom I've heard some of you know. We were on a email group called "philia" years ago and I finally found him again thru his website and got a chance to catch up. He sounds great and is doing well. It was wonderful to talk with him again, as we had lost touch for a while. Somehow. . .we got on the subject of this board and he told me about it. I'm surprised I never found it after all the JW and ex-JW sites I've looked at. Anyways. . .I thought I'd say hello to everyone. I'm off now to read some of his old posts - particularly the ones about his trip to Bethel.
Look forward to talking with you and meeting all of you.
