Just a curious question...since I never 'graduated" past MS, I have wondered if it matters how long someone has been DF'ed as to how quickly reinstatement happens? Does a 10 year DF take longer to reinstate than a 1 month DF? Any comment from our ex-elders if this was ever a factor?

Where else will you go?
by wary inthe po comes to see me and talks round the houses trying to find out what my problem is.. so i tell him "look its something i have to sort out for myself and i dont want to destroy your faith and make you start questioning so id rather not tell you".
he already knew cos the first elder went to his house the second he left mine and told him about [what i thought was a private conversation between mates,] my issues.. so he proceeds to tell me a story of a brother he knows who was always very studious and knowledgable about all prophecies and the details of our beliefs.. well the guy suddenly stopped attending meetings last year, dont know why but the po seemed pretty upset about it as he was an old friend.. so he says " i said to him, but john, where will you go now on sunday afternoons,!
and really wary where else will you go?".

Great comment Bizzy...I am sooooo sick of hearing that flawed comment from JW's!!
I have also had the "even if it isn't right, what have you lost?...you have lived a good life and have not been infected by the evils of this world". Sheesh, what a crappy way to reason. I guess you don't have to be right, just live a good life...wait, don't JW's say it's not good enough to live a good life?...you have to have the truth, or you will be destroyed at Armaggedon. So, which is it??

1975 Was Brought Up At the Meeting
by dismayed inso i'm daydreaming through the service meeting last night, (the end of the "supermeeting") and the ms is giving a part on always being ready to defend our faith.
blah blah blah.....you know the drill.
so he invites up a brother to do the demo part.

“Even if Jehovah’s Witnesses are wrong, it’s still the organization I want to be a part of”. That was followed by thunderous applause...
I feel a little taste of throw-up in my mouth...I can't tell you how many times my JW relatives have tried this line of reasoning to get me to come back and overlook the "shortcomings" of the WTS!!

Are You Surprised That You Ever Believed "In The Truth"?
by minimus inknowing what you know now, are you embarrassed that you ever believed in the jehovah's witness religion?.

I was born in, so I really just went with the program. I don't know that I ever really "felt it", but rather went through the motions for convenience sake. I had one small spurt of theocratic enthusiasm when I was 16 or so, and then I met a very "bought in" JW girl whom I ended up marrying. I then spent the next 25 years going through the motions without ever really "buying in" 100%. I finally went forth and did my own thing in my early 40's. Did I ever really believe completely...no. Would I have chose to be a JW if I was not born in...definitely not. Seeing many of the above comments, it would seem we born in's have alot in common!!

Another way the WT can mainstream: DF'ing time limits
by JimmyPage init has been mentioned a lot here lately that the wt needs to either mainstream or become more cultish.
if they decide to mainstream, here's another way to do it without pissing off the old timers too much.
it would also make a lot of people within the borg very, very happy.

Theocratic warfare...ie: it's ok to tell lies if it is for the protection of the Truth!
...though you can be DF'ed for being a liar...go figure!!
