does the wts speak of this in any of their publications?

Does that mean a person could be blood-guilty if they were killed by an attacker while employed as a gun toting officer?? That is some strange logic...

That is the stance that I thought was still in place on law enforcement employment. You can't be armed, but it is ok to call a "worldly" armed cop to help you...and in the course of that help, they may have to use their weapon...and that is ok. What a load...

Sorry if I am getting off subject, but I would be very interested in seeing any references or links that show a change in the JW stance on working in law enforcement that wing commander mentions. I was not aware of any such change...thanks!

lately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!
My former pioneering partner committed suicide in his early 30's...I had lost touch with him, having moved out of the area, but I can guess that his unhappy marriage, pressure to "reach out" for more congregational responsibilities and a dead-end job all contributed to his decision to take his own life...very sad.

i was just reading doublelife's thread and what struck me was this jw doctrine "she said that since my dad died, he paid for his sins, and he'll probably be resurrected.".
so, why did jesus to die for our sins if we are just going to pay for them with our own death's?!.
I think that the point that might be overlooked here is that even if a person does "die in this system", they would be resurrected to a life of working toward perfection for 1000 years. There is no guarantee that they will survive the "final unloosing of Satan". They could still be destroyed and lose their everlasting life...thus a JW would say that they still needed Jesus' sacrifice to ultimately gain everlasting life, providing they make it through the 1000 year reign of Christ. They will be called from their graves to work toward perfection and then ultimately face destruction if they fail their test of loyalty.
Isn't that clear as mud??...
