MJ attended the same congregation I did in the 80's, and though I didn't know him well, I did find him to be a shy, sensitive and pleasant young man. He tended to be very quiet around adults and gravitated towards children, especially at "get togethers". I never detected anything inappropriate about his interactions with the kids...he just seemed more comfortable around them. I was sorry to see how extreme his life became, but he was a true talent and a genuinely nice person.

RIP Michael Jackson
by sizemik init's one hour into june 25th here in new zealand .
and two years since the death of michael jackson.. we all know of his family life and the connection the family had to the jehovah's witness religion, his abusive father, and the less than ideal childhood he experienced.
his struggles with his identity and his past manifested itself in a life of extreme highs and lows.

viewing porn makes you demonised!
by highdose inor so claims every jw i've ever met.
porn also makes you turn into a sexual deviant who is likely to become a homosexual, rapist or peadofile.. .
porn has specail powers that once viewed allows the demons to get into your mind and start controling it!!.

I like the idea of a live demonstration of the "sin" for the JC...

Why does the Society accept Christendom's "original" Bible canon?
by compound complex ingreetings to those who may know.. i'm reading about the various councils convened in the fourth century a.d. to determine the bible canon.
if my understanding is correct, constantine was initially in charge, some 24 councils finally got it figured out (hardly) and there were fights over what was in and what was out.
over 200 so-called gospels were considered and four accepted.

CoCo...that is a great question, and one I have wondered about for years. I have never heard an answer to the question of how the very "councils" that finalized the canon of the Bible as we know it today, could also be the "councils" of the era that affirmed the Trinity and Immortality of the Soul doctrines. How can they be inspired in one endeavour and then promoters of false religious teachings in another?? This has always seemed a contradiction, but I have never heard anyone actually challenge the WTS's position on this...it certainly makes one think!

How many illogical JW beliefs did you choke down for years?
by james_woods inthis was inspired by that thread marvin did on the "ectoplasm".. in something of a confession - i actually gave that hour public talk on this subject.
and it was very popular with the jws.. i did not believe a word of it - even at the time.
did not believe in the "demons" either - with or without the slime.. it got me to thinking - how much of this did a small back room of your mind reject?

I agree with a number of the things already mentioned...I just bought in because I was "supposed to".
My biggest nagging issue was the absolute certainty that after nearly 2000 years after Jesus walked the earth, a single man was chosen to put forth True Worship at the exclusion of every other religion or belief system. That was compounded by the declaration that this "organization" was then chosen in 1919 to be the true church because it was unique in its worship and doctrine (though it mirrored most practices of other Christian denominations at the time). I could never get a satisfactory answer to that one other than "because we said so!"

I was 24 and remember how I managed to just shrug off the passing of the date...I sucked up the lame excuse that "we never said that" and just kept on walking blindly down the path. At least I didn't sell everything and quit my job!!

For exJW Singles - Would You Consider Dating/Marrying Another ExJW?
by Broken Promises indo you consider being an exjw a hindrance to dating?
for example, do you find it difficult to bring up in conversation, lest you get stared at as if you have 2 heads or something?
or you might find it difficult to explain why you've had little sexual experience in the past?.

I would be concerned that they would return to the Borg...and that would be a disaster in a relationship. I ended up marrying an ex-7th Day Adventist, so she had an understanding of many of the "issues" with being involved in an "end times" religion. She helped me transition by understanding where I came from, without the fear that she would return to a similar religion. It worked for me, but I think each situation is different.

Wow Sizemilk...you guys must be getting very tired of this day in day out! I live in So. California, so we are no strangers to seismic activity, but this just has to be wearing you down. I hope you and your family are safe and get some relief soon from all the rocking and rolling!!

I am leaning towards the Mavs...as long as Dirk Nowitzki stays healthy and on his game. The biggest challenge for the Mavs is that the last two games are in Miami.
