The bottom line is, stupid or not, this is actually an effective analogy because it has created discussion and burned the subject of the analogy in to each poster's subconcious. The purpose of an analogy is to make people remember the subject or open discussion of same. I think Jackson was successful in doing just that with many people on JWN...imagine the impact with JW's at the conventions he speaks at!!

Terrible Analogy at a Convention
by ApostateDance ini'd love to know what you guys think of this.
brother jackson (from the governing body) had this "neat" analogy at the very end of the convention.
he said; "what if you were watching a football game on tv, and it was the trojans against the fighting irish, and it's been a good game.

Michael Jackson kids leaving meeting June 26
by Gayle inhttp://thejjb.com/reply/10768498/re-mj-s-kids-at-jehovah-s-witness-meeting-june-26.
youngest doesn't look too happy leaving meeting,,he doesn't seem to like the jw look and feel of tie and jacket.
poor kid.

That is my old Kingdom Hall...hasn't changed much in the 30+ years since I attended there! What I find most fascinating is that the youngest is going to meetings sporting a rather long ponytail. I wonder how that would play out if you or I were to do that?...I guess MJ's millions might be able to assuage the righteous indignation of unacceptable grooming standards!!

Who's the most intolerant religious group?
by Wonderment ini would like to hear people's opinions on intolerant religious groups?
who wins?.
somehow, i have this notion that pentecostals would win 1st place, followed by baptists, followed by jw's.

LOL Quarterback...I think the conditions in many parts of the world would be vastly better if they followed Shania Law instead of Sharia Law!

What's the thinking behind calling yourself 'Apostate'?
by Essan inseems to me that we're playing into the society's hands here.. 'apostate' is the most evil and vile word for jw's.
i suspect it's even more of a terrifying trigger word than 'satan' or "demons", for them.. the society gives us that label which they have negatively loaded in order to make it impossible for jw's to hear us or have anything to do with us.
the word is associated with other words like "poison" and "toxic", "disease" and "filth".. so what sense does it make to use it and allow the society to have it's way?.

I like to think that the WTS is apostate...Russell was apostate from the Presbyterian church, and most of those that weren't "born in" are apostates from some other church...so who really is the apostate?

New 3D smurf movie
by jwfacts inthere is a smurf movie coming in july.
http://www.smurfhappens.com/ they look like the avatar in miniature.. do you think this time around jws will be able to see it, or are they still considered demonised?
will there be a new generation of kids hearing about smurfs running out of kingdom halls, and will they be told about it by the overlapping generation?.

Oh the horror!!! This is no doubt one more sign that we are quickly approaching the end. Satan has managed to project 3D images of his evil blue followers into theaters and homes to pollute and recruit young ones in to becoming one of his evil minions. This is the worst event since the Nephilim walked the earth...oh the horror of it all!

I wouldn't rank Westboro Baptists as a real religious group...they are a fanatical cult, more political than religious.
I am Zid...fundamental/radical Muslims win hands down. JW's may wish they could kill you if you disagree, many predominant Muslim countries will oblige you. If you are a Muslim and convert to another religion, you subject to the death penalty under Sharia Law...I'd say that is pretty intolerant!

What % of the bible do JW's use?
by highdose ini've noted on here before that one point that got my attention was the small pool of scriptures that the gb seemed to use over and over again.
leaving out all the rest.
whole swathes of paul's werid and wonderful writings go ignored.

The WTS uses the scriptures that reinforce the worship of Jehovah (OT) and demphasize or ignore scriptures that focus on Jesus (NT). I would characterize their use of the Bible as being more Judeo than Christian, though they would vehemently deny that. Most of all though, JW's use scripture to support their doctrine and wield it like a weapon against their adherents to keep them controlled.
If I were to guess a percentage actually incorporated into supporting the JW theology, it is likely less than 25% of the Bible.
