HOW TO IDENTIFY THE TRUE RELIGION
by Fifth Column injesus said that the true religion would be evident in the lives of the people who practice it.
by their fruits you will recognize them, he said.
every good tree produces fine fruit.

Fifth Column...would it surprise you to know:
THOSE WHO WORSHIP THE TRUE GOD
- base their teachings on the Bible - All churches of Christendom use the Bible as their basis of belief
- worship only Jehovah and make his name known - Most Christian Churches use the name Jehovah as part of their teaching
- show genuine love for one another - Christians, Jews and even Atheists show love...
- accept Jesus as God’s means of salvation - This is the core belief of the churches of Christendom
- are no part of the world - are JW's?...I suspect that you are "part of the world" in some fashion or another!
- preach God’s Kingdom as man’s only hope - last time I checked, Christendom does that...and several denominations incorporate some type of door to door work as part of this preaching
So...using your checklist, does that mean the Churches of Christendom qualify as true worshippers?

What Did You Do As A Witness That Could Have Gotten You Into Trouble Had The Elders Ever Known About It?
by minimus inmy elder buddy and i would frequent strip clubs when we wanted to.. a few friends knew i enjoyed clubbing and music concerts and i seldom ever spoke of my private social life to others.. i know many jws, including elders, that drank excessively but that wasn't considered too big a deal..

You are all evildoers and obviously have been rooted out of the congregation for your wicked works!!
I on the other hand was perfect...other than the drinking, smoking, loose conduct with the opposite sex, R rated movies, dislike for meetings and field service, unwillingness to admit I was a JW and general apathy towards the organization.
I hope you all can turn around from your demon inspired conduct!!

Has Anyone Seen "Prometheus"?
by Low-Key Lysmith ini loved it!
but then, it went right along with my own personal beliefs concerning mankind's origins, so i'm a little biased.. wondering what a religious person's thoughts would be?.

All serious philosophical analysis aside, I was disappointed with the movie. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I felt the film was a bit uneven and the ending was a big disappointment...I walked away with a "where's the payoff" feeling. I saw it in IMAX and didn't feel it was worth the $30 per ticket price tag!

Need a little help from my friends....can you get in here and post Classic Rock (or other genres) songs with horns heavily featured.
by La Falta Habitacion Por Sr Hor-Hey!! ini'm on a rock kick again, and i never realized how much i adore songs with crazy horns.
i've always loved horns in hip-hop, (work by gang-starr is a must hear even for non-rap lovers if you can appreciate horns), but i want to really explore horns as used in other genres, particulary classic rock.
plus there's a song i heard years ago that i can't seem to locate and can't even recall any of the words or its melody, just that i loved it at the time.

How many new baptisms are family members?
by ilikecheese ini don't know if there is any hard evidence on this or anything, but about how many of the new baptisms each year are children of jws, other family members of jws, or acquaintances?
how many are actual new people who have no ties to them at all?
it seems like the largest number are kids who are sort of pressured into it.

I agree that that high percentage is true for western countries, but I would venture many in Latin America and Africa are reached through the "preaching" work...as those countries grow to a mature JW population, they will probably fall in to the cycle of primarily replenishing the ranks via born-in children.

Time Goes By - UK Cops
by Joe Grundy inas some know here, i am a retired cop (30 years).. .
i am a member of narpo (national association of retired police officers) - uk.. .
it seems that hardly a day goes by without an e-mail from my regional branch with details of yet another brother or sister officer who has died.

I can imagine that being an unarmed officer is quite stressful...here in the U.S., the police are all armed but that doesn't decrease the stress levels. It does tend to "even" the playing field a bit. I have had 25 years under my belt as a LEO, so I can empathize with you Joe! Often it is difficult to leave the job behind after retirement...thus the high incidence of depression and suicide amongst retired police officers.
