Since women can't write their name in the snow, how could they possibly be equal??

Women: Are they Equal to Men ?
by villagegirl inone of the hard core doctrines of the wt society, and many other religions, is that women are to be in "subjection" to men.. in the bible, in genisis , it says the domination of women by men came after adam and eve disobeyed god.
eve was cursed by pain in childbirth and that from then on as a curse: "he shall rule over you " from then on the male was to dominate the female.. but that was not in the original plan.
this was a reversal of the plan and a curse.

He also did a great job in "7 Psychopaths"...very Tarantino-like movie, and Waits has a fun cameo. The movie is definitely worth a watch if you like craziness!

Is the new King of the North rising? Will the GB spin this event in their favor?
by suavojr inwill the current gb of jw's be bold enogh to identify n. korea as the new king of north?
the wt let this important component of their prophecies vanish.. .

I thought the current King of the North is Iran?...perfect scapegoat for the GB version of prophecy. They persecute JW's (the few there are in that country) and want to lead the way for the Twelth Iman's return to convert or destroy the non-Muslim infidels in the Western World.

Former Jehovah's Witnesses, will Jesus destroy all JW's when he comes to the Earth?
by Change Name inwhat do you believe happens when one of jehovah's witnesses dies?
do they go to hell?.
if you do not respond, does it mean that you are only looking to discredit and bash the jw's?.

Change Name...
I think when you start responding to questions from posters rather than doing "hit and run" posts with obviously "baiting" questions or statements, you will get more response back. Being a JW apologist is fine...being a troll who just posts provocative things is not cool.

Ugh. Attended a funeral recently at the KH...
by Muddy Waters ini can't believe how horrid this experience was.
first, the thought of going into a kh again filled me with total anxiety and even nausea.. .
second, couldn't believe how much time it took to get ready to get there.

Like my "never a JW" wife said about going to the KH..."I feel like I am sitting through a tax seminar".

I don't think that ex-JW's becoming Catholics is as unusual as some here think. A very active ex-JW, Tom Cabeen, comes to mind...he was an elder at Bethel during the 70's and early 80's, and saw all of the purges at Brooklyn that occured back then. His spiritual journey went to Evangelical Christianity and finally settled in to Catholicism. I believe his story is on freeminds.org.

Courtesy of millions now living are dead from several years ago (thanks to Randy for re-posting on Free Minds:
Ode to the 192 Page Book
Once I wondered what life was all about
I struggled with faith, I struggled with doubt
But there it was, the last place I looked
Spelled out for me, in a 192 Page Book
Why am I here? What's my direction
Should I lay on my stomach when I have an erection?
My mom and dad said, "Son you should look..
In the pages of this here 192 page book."
Fresh out of High School, what path to choose?
My guidance counselor said I should follow my muse.
But my counselor was worldly, a geniune crook
Instead I followed the advice in a 192 page book.
Now I'm older, and my marriage is rocky.
I'm looking at porn and my figure is stocky.
I went to the elders and my priviliges they took
And sent me home with a 192 page book.
I'm a Senior Citizen now, and I'm in alot of pain
I'm really pissed that Armaggedon never came
When I die, where will I be?
Maybe the answer is on page 193

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

I started university in 1969, much to the displeasure of my fellow JW's. I caved under the pressure from the congregation to pioneer, with an eye to the system ending in 1975, and left school. I started to wake up a bit in the 80's and went ahead and finished my degree in 1988...better late than never.
I wanted to make sure my kids didn't fall in to the same trap, and managed to get them both through college with degrees. As a result of my wanting my kids to have an education, I was viewed as "less spiritual" and a father not putting spiritual things first. That would have devasted me in my younger years, but by then I had my foot out the door already. Both my kids have great careers and are living productive lives...both outside of the Borg.
Unfortunately, my experience growing up in the JW's is very different from many of my friends...the majority of my old cohorts didn't go to college, and ended up in jobs that they probably would not have chosen if they had a chance at higher education. Most went in to the trades and did, and still do, hard physical labor to make a living. They have survived and made it through life, but I know they wonder "what could have been?".
