Folks, as you can see, SFPW starts threads but rarely follows up with direct responses to the posts on the provocative threads he starts.
SFPW is either a "wanna be" satirist or a world class troll. If we feed in to his threads with passionate responses, we are just feeding his need to mock those sincere posters on JWN.
Why keep feeding this behavior?...

135th Gilead Class video
by zound inwhoah this video is so sad and cultlike - the most uncomfortable 6 minutes i've sat through for awhile.
the gb have seemingly pulled the rug from beneath the gillead missionaries and assigned them internally to bolster the organisation.
closing the ranks.. .

Can this be true?
by tenyearsafter ini was listening to a news report yesterday that said that after two weeks of being available to the public, only 226 people here in colorado had signed up for health coverage under the aca offered through the colorado state exchange.
that seems hard to grasp...the population here is over 5mm, so that works out to .0045% (if my math is correct) of the population signing up for health insurance.
the report also mentioned that besides the 226 that actually signed up for insurance coverage, another 2800 created a log in account, but made no insurance purchase.. do other states seem to have the same underwhelming response to this program?...either the program is flawed, or there isn't the demand for health coverage that the government anticipated and sold as fact to the american public.. i do know that my wife's current coverage was cancelled (as not compliant with aca requirements, whatever that means!

Berengaria...it is difficult to fact check, and that is why I asked if this sounded "true" in line with other States. Both of these reports were from our local news stations here in the Denver area. I am always a little skeptical about "news reports", but this just seemed too crazy to make up. I have been trying to fact check numbers, but I am having a hard time finding definitive verification other than comments like "exchanges have been overwhelmed" or "websites have crashed". It would beinteresting to see what the real numbers are thus far.
I have heard that 45MM people are unisured and need to register to get in to the "system". Again, I don't know if that is a real number or political rhetoric from either side of the issue talking. If the number is correct, it would seem that this will be a VERY long process if the current sign up challenges persist.

Anony mous...actually, the wife's policy was an individual policy...she is self-employed, so I don't know why they cancelled her.
Designs, in the case of Colorado the Governor is a Democrat, so I doubt it is being sabotaged. I just got the feeling from report that people are just not going to the website to complete the process.
Talesin...it could be related to the shutdown, but Colorado has it's own insurance exchange, so I don't know if that is funded by the Feds or not.
As an update, I heard in a different report today that only 300 have signed up for coverage...crazy.

I do know that my wife's current coverage was cancelled (as not compliant with ACA requirements, whatever that means!), and she now has to buy a new plan that offers lower coverages at a higher cost...something doesn't seem right here!

SFPW...thank you for your thoughts on Matthew 24, but I am still a bit unclear as to why this particular parable (Matthew 24:45) should be accepted as literal when the others were parables for illustration of a specific point that Jesus was teaching on. While the signs of the end of this system may have a dual fulfillment (some biblical scholars feel it only had a 1st Century fulfillment), I don't see the direct connection to the FDS. I don't know that I agree with you on the "unprecedented" instances of famine, earthquakes and war occuring in the last 100 years...we can't forget that over 25% of the world's population died during the Black Plague in the 14th Century, the conquest of the Americas (15th Century) claimed as many lives as WWI, the China famines of the 19th Century claimed 45MM+ people, the earthquake in Shensi, China in the 1500's claimed the most lives (800,000+) of any earthquake in history...so we have evidence of these tragedies happening throughout years since Jesus' warning in Matthew.
I have trouble getting my arms around the self appointment of the GB as the FDS. If it could be explained to me, using the Bible, I would gladly accept it and acknowledge the error of my ways. Unfortunately, I have never seen anything shown to me from the Bible to that fact...just the statements by the self appointed FDS that they are what Jesus speaks of at Matthew 24:45. I am being sincere in asking for that biblical proof, and not just being contentious. If you can point me to the proof scriptures I would be grateful.
I agree with you that the WTS was "aggressive" in pointing to specific dates as being the start of the end times. Regardless of whether they specifically said, "this is the date", they certainly alluded to that as a fact. Having been a JW during that time (I was baptized in 1967), I can assure you that the reality of 1975 was VERY real to the great majority of JW's during that time. I personally saw the aftermath of financial and spiritual bankruptcy with many JW's who you describe as "self victims"...whether they brought it on themselves or not, the WTS's actions during that time were tantamount to a bystander yelling "jump" at a suicidal person standing on a building ledge.

SFPW...you make an eloquent argument for the GB being the "real deal" and being God's channel on earth. I am going to assume that you are being sincere in your comments, and not trying to "prank" everyone on JWN.
If you are sincere, can you answer two questions, because these are what really got me to thinking about the validity of the GB's claim to authority.
I agree that God has used some type of "voice" in dealing with his people...Moses, Abraham, etc. I can find no instance in the Bible where any of these "instruments of God" ever proclaimed anything (with the exception of future fulfillments) that did not come to be...can that be said of the WTS (the FDS) and its previous statements? Did any of the previous channels ever change direction and offer "new light" for a different explanation of God's instructions?
Why is the FDS, as described in Matthew 24:45 and Luke 12:42, to be taken as a literal personage when every other of the parables in the adjoining verses Jesus describes are taken as Jesus intended...as parables providing a lesson to the hearer of the parable?
These examples have truly troubled me, and no one has ever been able to show me a reason for these interpretations beyond saying in essence, "because we say it is true". Can you help me by showing me from the Bible where this authority and interpretation of scripture comes from?
If you choose not to answer me, I will assume you don't have an answer or choose not to substantiate your defense of the Truth as you see it...thank you.
