I thought it was badly dumbed down when I was in, but this incredibly simple. It is amazing that those "intelligent" ones currently in don't get ill seeing where the WT has gone. I guess it is like the frog in the slowly heating pot of water...they are boiling to death so slowly, they don't even notice!

Wow Oubliette...I guess they are really getting desperate!

Good point all...intelligence has never been a prerequisite for being a JW!
The WTS must really be in a quandry about the magazines...for a publishing company, it has to be painful to see the printed word withering away. By being pushed in to the digital age, it becomes a huge management problem to use this type of media while trying to keep JW's away from "apostate" sites!
i haven't really thought of this but maybe you have knocked on some "famous" door.. i think the only one i can come close?
to is one of "the irish rovers" singer - song groups, but after he moved.. what about you?.

Hi LL...there were others, but I would have to put on my thinking cap to get some more names...the ones I gave came off the top of my head. I don't remember the Nelson family rumor, but I did used to see Ricky Nelson frequently when I worked at the Ralph's grocery store in W. Hollywood.

I just saw my first Watchtower magazine in about 15 years...it was tucked under my doormat. All I can say is WOW! I was shocked at how small and flimsy it was. I tried to read an article, but it was so simple and basic, I couldn't finish it. The magazine looks like it was shrunk to about 70% of its original size, about 16 pages, and with very thin semi-glossy paper. The print font was large and the articles looked to be written for a child's comprehension level. I was really shocked to be honest...I guess the WTS is finally recognizing that print is a dying form of communication. I don't see how they can think that this type of magazine would attract ANY intelligent person's interest. Again, all I can say is WOW!
as i've been chatting with a jw neighbour he has said, "heck, some people think we are a cult!
" and scoffs at very idea.
how ludicrous (he thinks)!
I remember that the typical definition of a cult as a JW was a fringe religion following a charismatic leader with a messianic bent...the BITE model means nothing to them.
im in a bit of a bind and im not quite sure what (if anything) i can do about it.
i was recently hired as a business consultant for a rather large company.
the company that hired me mentioned that they are concerned about a certain department and the way its being run, as this department affects every other department in the company.
What his personal beliefs are should have nothing to do with evaluating his job performance. If he is under-performing, he shoud be warned and put on a personal improvement plan. If he refuses to comply or cannot change his performance, he should be terminated. His religious beliefs should have absolutely no bearing on how he is treated for his job performance. By giving him a break because he is a "quirky JW", you are actually engaging in a form of reverse discrimination against the other employees.
