I just saw an email from a family member trumpeting how they met an individual and referred them to JW.org...they then followed up the next day with the individual, stressing to the "interested one" how they could read publications and have questions answered via JW.org. My family member then went on to write, "I just had my first RV with Mr. "X". I guess this is the new reality of witnessing in the 21st Century...

Do you think that the Jehovahs Witness religion would be better /worse if their were an equal number of male/female on the G.B.?
by smiddy inof course this is a hypothetical question , it will never happen .?
but what if it did , what do you think the society would be like if it did happen .?.
let your imaginations run wild .

Authoritarianism is the great equalizer...male or female, they would unify under the high control banner!

I just saw this story on "Evil Kin", a Discovery ID Network television show, and was disgusted by the story. I recall this horrific murder when it happened, but as the show detailed the events leading up to the murders, I can only conclude these two "boys" were bad seeds.
As much as I would like to tie these slimy young men's actions to being raised JW's, I can see nothing presented on the program that would show this couldn't happen in a Christian, Jewish or Atheist home. These guys were just plain evil...they were defiant, menacing and utterly rebellious. They embraced the neo-Nazi lifestyle while rejecting and disdaining their JW upbringing. Many of us were raised in strict JW homes, but I don't recall reading about any of the people on this forum slaughtering their parents because we couldn't go out to party after our curfew.
These brothers had no remorse...none. Despite their admissions of killing their parents and brother, the Freeman's have spent the last 18 years trying to get their sentences thrown out. So, besides being taumatized by the horror of the crimes, the community where this took place has had to shoulder the cost of all the legal manuevers these idiots have taken since their guilty pleas to get their sentences reversed. These people disgust me, regardless of their JW ties. I have no sympathy for these oxygen thieves...
Anyone else have a chance to catch this show?...thoughts?

BEING SHUNNED
by JOHNROSS93 inafter almost 40 years of being shunned by close family members, it never gets easier.
my own mother is under the spell of the "organization" and won't even write to me.
for a long time i sent her things - cards, news articles of interest, jokes, etc - i finally gave up.

I am in agreement with two-way shunning...why would shunners feel you still have an obligation to them even though they reject you? They have no shame in approaching you for money or help, but if the shoe were on the other foot, you would not hear a peep from them. Pure hypocrites!

Goodbye JW net
by snare&racket inforgive me for indulging in a goodbye but it would feel wrong not to,.
i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.
these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

by tenyearsafter injust saw a facebook post from an acquaintance who just went to the international convention in dallas, tx.
according to his post, there were approximately 50,000 in attendance on sunday, with 468 baptized.
there were an additional 9 conventions tied to this one, with an attendance of approximately 100,000 and 609 baptisms total, including dallas.

eyeuse2bDUB...that baptism percentage is lower than the average death rate...tough to grow when members are dying faster than they can be replaced!

steve2...Arlington is the Dallas area, and the convention my friend was talking about. That would be a first in my recollection of a convention falling 20% below projections.

Just saw a Facebook post from an acquaintance who just went to the International Convention in Dallas, TX. There were an additional 9 conventions tied to this one, with an attendance of approximately 100,000 and 609 baptisms total, including Dallas. His big take away was the unity and love that the JW's showed versus the hypocrisy and fighting among those of other religions.
Based on his account, you would think the JW's are having a new renaissance of growth...I read the numbers he quoted as a .9% growth based on the baptisms in Dallas and .6% based on the total baptisms for that weekend. Of course, they didn't mention the number DF'ed, DA'ed or faded...if these numbers were factored in, it would show a decline. I wonder how many of those baptized were children of JW's? Could the higher number of baptisms in Dallas be indicative of the large number of Hispanic immigrants in Texas?...I think that is a good possibility.
As my friend commented at the end of his post on FB, " Clearly, Jehovah is blessing our association of brothers and sisters."

BORN-INS! What Were The Most Annoying Quotes Your Parents Would Say?
by OneStepOut93 inregarding worldly people, shows or toys?
etc...what quotes annoyed you the most?.
for me it was "well, you have to remember, they're worldly"... "don't trust anyone who isn't in the truth" "they may be nice but they are not friends of jehovah"... just a few to name.

Finnish branch office PR lies on TV about shunning
by tunnistaja.ee ini created the subtitles.. .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkwcoq_3qyg.
we all know he's evading the question by talking about those who somehow avoid the baptizm, but it really does not matter.

Based on the subtitles, this "WT representative" has a number of outs:
1) They can freely leave (though DF'ed)
2) They can freely return (after a minimum of one year of groveling)
3) They aren't shunned (they are encouraged to return to their senses!)
It's all in the spin...that is what PR is all about!!
