since russells time to now, how many apostates are there in the world??
take one example: figures for 1995-2005 publishers up 1,413,934. baptized up- 3,306,223. missing publishers- 1,892,289 ???.
if you factor in those that died in the 10 year period that is still alot of missing publishers compared to baptizms!
Whatever it is, it's still too low a number, for sure!

of all the times i was called upon to say prayer, i only remember choking once - but it was such a big choke i totally embarrassed myself for days on end afterwards.
and this one time wasn't even at the kh, it was in a home right before we were going to pre-study the wt.. there were roughly 3 elders, their wives, and some other close friends of mine in the living room.
i'd say there were around 10 of us total.
My pet peeve has always been those brothers who want to give a public talk during their prayer. It's like they forget they are praying to God and just start talking to the congregation. They say stuff like..."and we want to remember to be at our meetings and be in field service because this is what Jehovah wants." Um...aren't you talking to Jehovah? It happens fairly regularly....

i was baptized at the "sacred secret" district convention in 1976. funny thing really i don't remember the 1975 issue as i was studing at that time and some how the subject never came up.
i was baptized at the inglewood california dc...
my parents were either baptized end of 75 or jan 76 - i just know it was when my mom was 8 months preggers with my brother. so i've often wondered if the reason they got baptized was the 1975 urgency... i should bring it up sometime and see the response (my dad is a PO at his hall now)

i went through my 10 year stay in the truth not knowing a whole lot about any of the teachings i realize.
i knew of them, knew the rules cause i read them all the time in the km,wt,awake....but i couldn't explain most of my beliefs with the bible.
i entered the faith at 13 years old, on my own and guess what at 13 years old with no parents pressuring me i really didn't like studying.
I'm still fading but i threw my blood card out of my wallet a year and a half ago.
Glad you didn't have to face the consequences of those decisions. It really is a convoluted mess as far as their reasonings on the subject go - what is and isn't allowed.

here was her first post about an hour ago, tucked into another thread.

i have been df'd for about 2 1/2 years now.
Welcome ae71! The worst thing to do would be to go back just because of lonliness...there are many friends to be made and things to experience outside the organization that you would never access within it. Take some time to look into some of the activities into your area that would open new avenues of meeting people!

hello, yes the scotsman has returned, but i have been naughty .
i have been doing some of my own research on the internet etc regarding jws and some doctrinal issues.. i have had some doubts for a while but am beginning to think that some of our current teachings are simply unsustainable.. example - the 1914 timeframe.. the reason that this is so pivotal is that it is a foundation stone of the organization.
evidence is easily available to prove that this date is unsafe.. many on here speculate about revolution in the organization etc, if 1914 was moved it would have a catastrophic effect on the ordinary publisher and would lead to big change across the congregations.
It is not pleasant to sit at a meeting and thinking to yourself, "I do not believe what he/she just said".
I have a head full of doubts....
I was brought up in the truth – aged 30 something!
Wife is a JW, no kids. Most of the families in both sides are in the truth.
Scotsman - i was/am in your exact shoes. I'm currently 30 something, wife in, no kids, most family both sides in.
Two years ago I was exactly where you are now - just finding out about 1914/607. The path is long, the journey is not easy, but it is well worth it for your own sanity.
The 607/1914 date is also what started me to actually thinking for myself, examining the viewpoints I had hammered into me for 30+ years. There is much to learn - make sure and examine all evidence with critical thinking. Best of wishes as you carefully start to examine what you've been taught against what the Bible actually says.
I'm so far undergoing a successful fade without too much hassle, though most my family live a ways away and are not aware. However, i'm beginning to find the strength to want to speak up to them regardless of the consequences. I still have many decisions to make myself. Feel free to PM w/ any questions or to ask about other material I've found.
Sincerely,
Morph
OMG. It's sad how obvious the control becomes once you are mentally free. Reading that was chilling. Over and Over people stated they had no right to think for themselves - they were told to follow somebody so that's what they were going to do.
Lots of people want others to follow. But if lies are the means to gain the trust - then truth will be the hammer to break those chains.
Thank God for sites like this that supply that truth. The above transcript shows how easy it is to fall prey when one is only exposed to a single viewpoint. And the very article being considered is being used to re-inforce the need for those ones to stick to a single viewpoint.
Well my view has changed. My independent study has given me a closer relationship to God than I ever had under the shadowed veil of the so called Truth. I have no need of their endorsement.

gems from the november watchtower.... searching into "the deep things of god" .
ocr article here.... http://www.sendspace.com/file/vly4jy.
understanding deep things requires study.
Reading paragraph 13 makes it clear they consider only the surviving annointed FDSC worthy.
13 God told the nation of Israel: "You are my witnesses . . . even my servant whom I have chosen." (Isaiah 43:10) But on Nisan 11 of the year 33 C.E., Jesus told the leaders of Israel that God had rejected their nation from being His servant. He said: "The kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits." Jesus said to the crowds: "Look! Your house is abandoned to you." (Matthew 21:43; 23:38) As Jehovah's slave, the house of Israel was neither faithful nor discreet. (Isaiah 29:13, 14) Later that same day, when Jesus asked: "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?" he was in effect asking, 'What discreet
nation will replace Israel to be God's faithful slave?' The apostle Peter gave the answer when he told the congregation of anointed Christians: "You are ... 'a holy na-
tion, a people for special possession.'" (1 Peter 1:4; 2:9) That spiritual nation, "the Israel of God," became Jehovah's new slave. (Gala-tians 6:16) Just as all members of ancient Israel formed one "servant," so also all anointed Christians on earth at any one time form one "faithful and discreet slave." What a privilege it is for us to receive "food" through God's slave!
What's interesting is that to do so they jump from Isaiah to Matthew to 1 Peter to Galations to try to do so. Just another example of grabbing scriptures at whim to back any point they want to. Just because Isaiah referred to a "servant" and then Jesus made a parable about a faithful slave doesn't mean they have to be connected.
