They said was because the housholder doesn't understand the Jehovah language, such as pioneer, elder, circuit overseer ecteerra. To do this now is very interesting, many have said why not years ago. Someone else said it may have to do with apostates also, trying to keep a closed door.

The Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the...organization.
by candidlynuts ini remember going out in service using the truth book .
" the truth that leads to everlasting life".
in its final couple of years, i remember how the catholic church's attempts to control what people read was part of our presentation.

The premise of the Catholic Church is Majesterium. The Tradition of the Church is that Jesus bestowed the power of correct practice of faith and morals on Peter who passed it on Pope by Pope by Pope. Parishoners only got themselves into deep doo doo when they read the bible for themselves. These people often became apostates (called heretics).
The premise of Protestantism under Martin Luther was that there is no organization between god and man; only Jesus and his Holy Spirit. The layperson is perfectly able to divine God's will directly by prayer and grace and bible reading.
The Watchtowr Society as always denied being Protestant. This for good reason! The entire organization closely mirrors the Catholic organization in everything. The Governing Body is an ensemble "Pope".
The employ Inquisitions and declare heretics and excommunicate as well.
The Watchtower is part of the "whore" of Babylon by their own description!
I must say I do agree with this, and have noticed that those that come out of BTG are Catholic, they do boast about that.

I find reading the bible the only sane way I can cope at the moment, and being with non religious or athiest folk.

We had a JW at the door today...how I handled it..
by megsmomma inmy first instinct was to tell him to go away and my husband was going to answer the door and i said, just tell him we are disfellowshipped.
(i am da'd....he hasn't ever been, but, he is "guilty by association" and conciders himself da'd too...).
so, it is one older man and he is handing out the "follow the christ" convention invitation.

Good on you, you did so well, and am sure you planted something for him to think about.
I was talking to a relative tonight and bought up about the gag money for the abuse victims, they said never heard of it and where did I hear this, told them it was common knowledge to anyone that listens or reads papers in, being from OZ we haven't really heard about this, so they said would not believe any worldy paper or report, and could not ever imagine the WT doing something so dispicable. What to say.....
They don't want to believe it.

A Bible Question, please comment
by restrangled inthere will have to be assumptions involved here.....that god exists, the bible is the word of god and creation is as stated in genesis, etc.
etc.. in the old testament, god seemed pretty straight forward, let certain people know (and not by osmosis) his intent.
backed certain kings, and showed power through physical occurrences over and over again.. along comes his son, who died for the entire race as a ransom for adam's sin.

With all the knowledge of those that profess to be the channel or to know it all, they still struggle because they miss the foundation of Christianity. It is not complicated as Jesus taught. To love God with whole mind and soul and you're neighbour as youreself. Cant go wrong with that, he nailed all the complications to a torture stake.
Those that fail to teach and live by that make everything complicated even to themselves, why they try and work out the law and inflict it on those they think cant see what they see are the ones that are blinded.
The meek shall inherit the earth.

Do you look forwards, backwards or sideways?
by mtsgrad inmorning faders, da's df's and current witnesses,.
the whole of my life in the troof was spent looking forward to the end of this wicked system.
over 30 years of waiting for jehovah to sort out the ills of mankind.

Each persons circumstances are usually different. I think it depends on how old the person is, how long they were in the org; if they have a mate that has the same views or family they can go to for support, understanding friends, which would be very difficult, seeing we never were allowed to associate with wordly people. Just one understanding person can make a world of difference, not just here, but in a tangible way. Don't isolate yourself.
All the best.

When I first heard about this, I thought it was the over use of someones immagination. But thats not really true, in some instances they can get carried away, but some not so.
After the watchtower study I pointed out the picture of mask and eyes on the cloth on rope (WT Feb 1st 2007 page 18) she saw it, then I approached an elder, he saw it and said dont' worry about it, doesn't mean anything. Thats just a recent example, there are past subliminals in JW litrature.

Elders' wives and elders' kids - any different from the RnF?
by Inquisitor inelder's wives - the general impression of them in my congregation is that they are not to be messed with.
ews are all smiles in front of guests but brutally unaccomodating to more familiar brothers and sisters.
they put much effort in making "good" comments at the meetings, with the occasional veiled insult directed at certain individuals (i suppose this is the only outlet for a lady in jehovah's patriarchy).

I treat them like any other b/s. If they try the uppity thing with me, I just diplomatically put them in their place. Some of them give me the sh*ts.

There are two classes of annointed - why?
by cultswatter inbefore the may 1st qfr there was 4 classes of annointed.and these were: 1. the annointed from 1935 (governing body members)2. the annointed from 1935 (non governing body members)3. the replacements since 1935 (governing body members)4 the replacements since 1935 (non governing body members) then the may 1st qfr did away with 1935( and naturally the 144,000 limit) and the replacements so only two classes now exist: 1. the annointed (governing body members )2. the annointed (non governing body members) there is still something wrong with this.
the annointed of the governing body are higher up on the power flow chart than the annointed jw church goers are.
according to the bible this is wrong.the bible does not mention two heavenly callings of two separate classes.

It's called elitism, the anointed are suppose to be the same no matter where they are. this GB thing is wrong, they have no right to govern anyone, that is Christs job. The whole GB thing is unscriptual, they virtually have control over everyone including the other anointed scattered in the congregations around the word, they are suppose to be fellow workers together, not above one another.
So clearly there are two groups of anointed even though they say they are all from the same body, the governing anointed and the no body anointed sitting in the congo, conspicuous only at memorial.
the anointed are only there because of the sheep not the other way around.

THE WTS: CRASH OR SLOWLY FADE AWAY?
by Seeker4 ini was just reading the thread about barbara anderson and perhaps some big news she will publish about the wts.
i agree with those who say that anything barbara has scandalous about the early history of the witnesses, ie: russel or rutherford times, will have zero impact.
that whole era is pretty much dismissed by all witnesses i know.

I think it will crash. I think Jehovah himself will bring it down.
