I've been studying with JW's for a few months..

i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.

i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .

but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

I have always looked up the sited scriptures, and they do encourage daily bible reading, study for the TMS is to read three or usually four chaptures of the bible weeking, the daily text, but I do understand where you're coming from, the WT sunday study for example is mainly what the GB has put together using the scriptures and sited scriptures. I have never had a problem as I always have read the bible and always used the bible in the ministry. It is the fear factor the convientent the end is close every few years and the witness, witness and aren't doing enough that really irks, me, the emphasis on money and changes in doctrines and upgrading to suit when to many start to get tired of all the crap.

Hopefully all will be reveled and the sooner the better for all concerned.

Sorry that you are going through this, one thing that always bothered me was the lack of concern for those that miss meetings are in hospital or live on their own in public housing, the status....

I have also found that they are suspicious if you miss to many meetings, not so much because of health but in fear of the leaving the troof thing, the WTBTS has created a lot of ill feeling between the brothers by asking them to spy or check on them, those that are inactive or miss to many meetings, say things anything different and you're on the list. They worry very much about the internet and these sites, it's what you know that bothers them.

But I do hope that youre x is concerned for you for the right reasons, and remember they are brainwashed, my suspicions about the org have come to hit me square in the face these past few weeks, it's like coming out of a fog.

The WTS sounds more and more like strickly a business to me.....

there was yet another disfellowshipping going in my congo announce the other night.

that makes 6 i believe now, 5 i'm sure of that have been dfed in the past year or so in my congo alone, and they don't seem to be making any effort towards reinstatement.

i know the reasons behind all those, that's why i know they were dfed and not daed.

I read that link to what Dave said, was very in tune to what I believe. But I have never heard of JW doing an add for TV, has anyone see it? did it go to air? or was it just a thought and not actually acted upon..

I find that openly praying over the food in public is self righteous makes a show or draws attention to one's self, also makes the other people with them feel not a good as the one praying. Also I have been out with a certain witness that when paying for the food always, yes always with out fail, has their blood card in open view makes sure it is seen from their wallet. How humble is that..

There ones in the congo I go that have not put a service report in for over two years, they come to the meetings regualary and one answers up, one an x elders wife (he died) the other born in the truth, and still many that only what the society says does a token service, they are all talked to and invited to do's. So I guess it is who you are and or maybe what congo you go to.

We have had one DA themselves, (I heard due to back biting and gossip) another reproved and haven't seen in almost a year, and others that seem to get away with stuff that if I did would be reproved or pulled before a JC because of insubordination.....figure.

An Elder Just Knocked on My Door

i didn't bother to answer.

it's probably because i told my ex last week that i will personally sue the individual elders if they meet with my daughter again to counsel her without my parental consent.

we have joint custody and that means they need joint parental consent to counsel a minor.. i am filing for sole custody of our 12 year old daughter and will be serving him with the legal paperwork next week.

They do not have any legal right to talk to you're child without an adult there let alone both parents permission. The poor young girl, she must be so confused. They are busy body meddlers, thoughtless and unloving. Imagine if that happened to them personally, be different no doubt.

Judicial Committees: What was it like selecting them?

looking back over the years it's funny to me now how we selected committees for jcs.

it seems like there was always at least one barney fife, gestapo elder who was chomping at the bit to be selected.

rarely would a guy like that get selected.

I haven't heard one word about praying to Jehovah for help in making their decisions. I was before a JC in the eighties, four elders, after confessing (that while I was out for 6yrs) I commited fornication, married out of the truth and smoked dope and cigs, they prayed for me and said the slate had been wiped clean, and that I would have to study for six months before I could go out witnessing again.

PHILIP K. DICK and parables of the WTBCS

several of this writer's stories are almost parables describing how the wt controls and twists reality.. there is one about a machine that sits in the home and warns people they are having the wrong thoughts and ideas.

if you don't stop it kills you.. i especially love the world where nothing is as it seems, and the people are rescued by an empty space ship that eats them.. any story by him that you think does the same?.

re...1984 w't..their all probably dead now...many gave up their homes, education, not having children, marrying, disgusting, this is the main thing that I really am pis*ed of about, how they can hold a clean conscience and not take any blame for the lives they have made hard.

I was bought up in homes and had vertialy no education, worked for the system, both religious and government. These very institutions are a subject for abomination by the WTS, for their abuse of children. Yet they have no better history. It is the people I feel for. and how, why...cognitive dissonance interesting.
