I was there also. I could not remember anyone saying it is coming but it sure was implied if it was not. I lived in North Michigan at the time and many people sold homes and quit jobs and moved up north with just enough money to live to about spring winter of 76. Many who had good jobs at GM or Ford now were hanging drywall and other jobs trying to regroup.

Should I stay married to my JW wife
by gatorguy inme and my wife were at the beach the other day and i finally told her, i don't think i believe in god anymore.
i fessed up to the fact that it started with me doubting some jw beliefs and then it just led me to this point where i don't even believe in god.
i wouldn't say that i even have a negative view towards jw's or religion in general.

Demon possesion, bunch of crap or?
by raven ini've been using the forum to vent and post a lot more frequently lately as a venting purpose & way to obtain peace of mind with the craziness i've been going through recently as i fade away form the org.
anyways today i'm sitting here at work and thinking to myself about demons... ok i know this sounds crazy but has anyone else out there been traumatized by the thought of demons?
i had a dream the other night, just flat out spooky and i woke and couldn't help but feeling it may have been evil ole' satan and his demons at it again.. i don't want to believe that, (trying not to, & just brushing it under the rug so to speak) but have any of you out there been talked up about demons?

Its always you hear about someone who knew someone that had a table float or some such bull shit. As a kid my parents would sit around the table and tell stories, always about someone they knew that knew someone that had some experience. I have a couple of cousins that swear they had demon problems, but the one woman tried in later years to kill her kids in an oven, she was mentally off. Her father swore to me he was helping to rid a home of demon problems and found a box of dishes that had crosses on them. I found a Catholic cross at a marina broken and fixed it and still have it and never had a problem. LMAO. He said it was not enough he took the dishes to a land fill, he was one of those over the top gung ho asshat elders. He had to break every dish. He told me that some dust from the dishes got into his gloves and on the ride home the gloves tried to strangle him. Mental illness runs in that family. Its a load of BS, but can I prove that? No, but I have never ever seen anything that could not be explained by some other more reasonable explanation. -

Why it's a waste of time talking to JW's
by Phizzy ini believe it to be a waste of time talking to, reasoning with, jw's if you expect any kind of quick result.. many of us when we first wake up think that 'coz ttatt is blindingly obvious to us, it will soon get through to our jw loved ones.. this simply isn't so for a couple of important reasons.
the first is that, if someone believes something is true, or the truth, to them it really is, without doubt, true.
so whatever you say must be wrong somehow.. the second problem is that jw's simply do not have to use, or pay any attention to facts and logic.

I used to talk to them when they come to the door. You can be spot on your argument, know the 607 argument down to the last period and they will never ever listen. Your wasting your time. The cult has a teem of attorneys working for them. They never DF anyone for any particular thing. Its some term that refers to not being clean in the christian congregation of some such bull shit. Although its getting harder for them to walk a line. But even so you would have a conflict of religious freedom and that rights of others. That said, I am not sure about Canada but in the states a religion has a lot of room to preach things that may not pass other areas. You may end up with what I think is known as a constitutional crisis. -

Do JWs ever doubt that the end is really coming?

i was told it was ok to doubt but not to think about it too much and wait on jehovah.
that bull shit lasted until they changed the meaning of generation in 95 and that was the end of that bull shit for me.

I can remember talking with an elder I used to work with that was dogmatic follower. I used to ask him if he were 75 and the end was not here would he second guess that the society was right. He said he would be disappointing but not to the point of doubting the cult. Well that is easier said then done. I don't know what he thinks today, I was drummed out due to not believing. I kept enough distance that they never could get enough rope to hang me, now I really don't give a crap, my family that was in the cult are all passed on so I don' t give a fuck what those assholes do. But I now live in Florida and I was from Michigan. So they don't have any contact with me to DF my ass. I wonder though with things never happening like the cult predicts do many doubt the validity of the cult?
