some things i know: latin, how to overclock intel processors, linear algebra, enough about web design to build a really lame, crappy webpage with hard to read text, quite a bit about the roman empire, all about the civil war, i can identify most bird species in my area, a respectable knowledge of plantaganet kings, alot about medieval central europe, where old cemetaries are in my surrounding area.
how a diesel engine works.
a good bit about vitamins, minerals and various beneficial herbs.how to rescue a drowning person who is attempting to pull you under.

your leadership is a bit dodgy.
for starters, theyre all so close to deaths door that he has repeatedly asked them to stop loitering and just ring the bell.
theyre so old and wizened that they have a hearse on 24-hour standby.
12 Million in another six was it?
When you start closing in on 1.2 Billion (like the Muslims) DO let me know.
But keep in mind that one man who is right is in vastly better spiritually than 12 million or 1.2 billion who are wrong. Try to remember that.

thanks to cassi and onacruise for the info on john 1:1 earlier; ie: need a reference.
i haven't discussed the trinity doctrine or any religious subject with my family (all witnesses) for quite a while.
personally, the doctrine is moot - much ado about nothing.
"Holy" scripture teaches Jesus is God?
First, there's nothing Holy about the christian scripture. It's merely the secular history of the Jews all tricked out to appear to be Holy. Second, The apostles may have believed that Jesus was God...but they were wrong.
Jesus is a son of God just like me albiet on a vastly higher level. The level of his divinity is so perfect that He and his father are ONE, but this does not make him the second person of the trinity. This is merely a pleasing fable.

our two eldest sons and their wives went to las vegas for the week today.
i have the 2 year old son of one son and the 14 year old daughter of the other son, for the week (until friday).
the girl (carlie) is an absolute dream, so helpful and has a great personality, but she goes to school everyday.
When my kids went through what you describe, I gave them a teaspoon of parageoric in warm milk with sugar. Within a very few minutes they were sleeping like logs

one thing that is commonly brought up is how the society has made so many mistakes and uttered so many false prophecies.
i just wonder what would happen if the watchtower ever came out and asked forgiveness for their sins and asked to start a clean slate.
(you know, like the pope did a couple of years ago).
Harrrrumph. I have a pretty good imagination, but I think you're stretching it further than it will go. The JWs apologizing? Never happen. Not until the real God gets 'em standing there in front of Him and He's asking for an explanation of a few things they've been up to in his name.

any ideas??
?
I don't know about you, but I applauded (on those occasions when I was there that late) because it was finally over and I could take my squeeze for the evening back to my hotel room and commence with a spot of heavy breathing.

i was having a discussion with my mom about the blood issue.
she asked me a good question which i did not have the answer for.. what was the purpose of the god saying to abstain or dont eat blood?
I believe you will find that "God" said to abstain from blood because it was supposed to contain the "soul" of the man or animal through whose veins it flowed.
Remember we are at this point dealing with a very, very primitive, illiterate, savage people whom logic says had been engaging in human sacrifice, just like all the neighboring tribes had been, for time out of mind. Moses made a distinct advance among these people by substituting animal sacrifice for human sacrifice. But he still had to dress up the sacrificing with those things that caused awe and fear, so he reserved the blood for God remembering of course how bloody human sacrifice was. Can you imagine what the Hebrew's alter looked like and smelled like after just a few months of animal sacrificing? Can you imagine what kind of God thought the smell of burning animals was a restful odor? What about the character of a God who was into being gifted with "enemy" foreskins, forskins by the tens of thousands?
(We still like our places of worship to incite awe. Look especially at some of the bigger Catholic Cathedrals, the one at Chartres, for instance. Awe inspiring places all. And remember fear comes just after awe, and fear is a mighty motivating force.)
Taking into consideration that now so many of the components, or fractions, of blood can now be transfused according to the WTBTS, it certainly follows that they have figured out which of the blood fractions contains the soul and which do not. This knowledge alone allows the governing body to permit the transfusing of certain blood components because they don't have the soul in them. Of course, this directly contradicts the WTBTS's hard and fast teaching that there is no such thing as a soul, that a soul is the individual himself. They've never essayed on this topic, likely because it would land then in a paradox of their own making, from which there is no escape.
The entire blood issue is phony, made up, a figment of the imagination of the WTBTS, a device designed to give the JWs power over their membership. And power "over" anyone and everyone is what the JWs are after.

has any body any idea how good the workmanship is on quickbuilds?
normally if you get a group of people who don't know about building you get chaos.
i know a few years ago they were changed from 48hrs to 2weekend, something to do with not being able to lay the bricks fast enough, new legislation limiting how many courses could be done in a day.
How many deaths or serious injuries to people working on quickbuilds?
you never here about compassion for mankind unless it's at the end of the guilt sentence of ' you have a responsibility to preach'.
if you ask a specific question to 50 catholic's or mormons, or bahai's, whatever, you will get at least 45 to 50 different answers.
if you ask a specific question to a jw about meeting attendance, birthdays etc you will likely get the same answer from 48 of those 50 people.
I once worked in a technical school where a school of cosmetology was a part of the courses offered. The head of that department was a guy who turned out to be a JW. We had known each other for a year before we spotted each other at an assembly.
Later, at school, he got with me to tell me how "spiritually sick" he was, how inadequate, etc., etc., since I'd seen him smoking I suppose he was covering his ass. Of course, I didn't care if he smoked or not. I did. So what could have been the big deal?
This guy died a few years later. Everyone was stunned to discover what he'd left in his wake. He was the second husband of his wife. His wife had three children living with them that belonged to her first husband and her. However, since the father of these children refused to support them, my friend had taken on the responsibility. He had no legal rights to those children, but he wasn't interested in legal knitpicking. He supported them just like they were his own children. Together this couple had five children. When they needed shoes, my friend would line them up, all of them, load the up, and be off to the shoe store. Everyone was treated exactly the same.
But of course the JWs and elders in the congregation of which he was a part had told him he was spiritually sick because his meeting attendence was low, as was his service performance. They never even asked enough questions to discover that he missed meeting and service because of his attendance at Cosmetology Shows all over the southeast. And he refused to volunteer the information because he didn't want to be viewed as making excuses.
So this friend who was spiritually sick, silently suffered the antipathy of his entire congregation while at the same time he was working to support three of hers and two of his, which meant supporting five of theirs. But the message of the elders was that he was spiriatually sick.
And you know, I never checked to discover, but I'd be willing to bet that after he died, the WTBTS did absolutely nothing to assist in the support of that widow and those fatherless children. Draw your own conclusions.
