  The Perils of Astrology

  yes, i am going through a crisis...well, for a long while now, i have been reading forecasts for my sun sign (virgo) and my rising sign (pisces, 26 degrees).

  i thought they were quite relevant to what i was going through, especially the pisces one...only to find out yesterday that during all that time, i should have read the aries forecast as my ascendant is at 26 degrees.

  needless to say, i do feel very silly about the whole thing.

  Um, well Prisca, astrology has nothing whatever to do with "stars" anyway. Astrology claims to measure your orientation to certain cosmic, astral, spiritual, and other energies at the time of your birth as indicated by your relation to the planets at that time.

  And just as a clock does not create time, but only measures it - astrology does not create anything in you either but only measures your orientation to the above named energies and to their relative strengths at the moment of your birth.

  Having said that, I must also say that I'm with Alan in recognizing astrology for the steaming pile that it is. I have drunk that cup to the dregs and must say that it leaves me intellectually empty. I have used it as an ice breaker and conversation maker at various parties in my long and checkered relationship with woman to good, even great effect. But that's as much good as I've ever gotten out of it. Which, when you think of other approaches and come-ons, isn't too bad at all. But when I want to really know the future, I wait for it to arrive.

  I NEED SOME HELP FOR A FRIEND.......

  i'm really concerned about a close friend of mine.

  she and her husband stopped going to the meeting about 10 years ago (that's not why i'm concerned) but remained pretty low-keyed up until about the last year.

  we've obviously talked at great length about the religion and how it screwed us royally and have even had some laughs over it (i've shown her some of my posting here and she's roared with laughter).. a few years ago, she got a tatoo because she always wanted one and of course couldn't while she was a dub.

  Lady Lee you are so right. There was no Internet for me until I was in my 50s. And it has served as nexus for all the ex-JWs in the entire world who are connected, and more and more are getting connected every day. And that is exactly why the WTBTS is so terrified of the Internet.

  It used to be that every exJW was an island unto themselves. I used to work with Richard Hickman putting out a little brochure once a month to 300 people, and we worked our butts off getting that thing out, plus answering the phone, doing interviews and other stuff trying to draw attention to the criminal nature of the Watchtower folk.

  Now, with the Internet, no man is an island (sorry). And with a tenth of the effort we put out, we can reach thousands more people, and the dark, slithering nature of the WTBTS is becoming known. We can tell we're having an effect by the way the WT is reacting in their publications and in their talks. It's like we say in the south - It's the stuck pig that squeals.

  Keep on squealing WT. We all know it's you that's the pig.

  Actually, although I do enjoy conversation with people of the xy persuasion, I feel more drawn to people of the double x persuasion, if you know what I mean. If she shoots me down, I might have to cry on your shoulder, though.

  BG, I just KNEW I was gonna take it on the chin for that last one, and I see that this crowd never disappoints.

  However, this bunch does help me prove my point for Mulan about what a nice guy I am, how I can roll with the punches, what a great sense of humor I have, how I don't take myself too seriously, how I am a regular guy - a humble Charlie, and on and on like that, fully deserving of her full consideration for an introduction to her friend.

  (And I know you're a classy thing, but I gotta give as I get, you know.)

  It DOES trouble me that I haven't heard from Mulan yet. I've got her phone number around here somewhere. If I get too worried, I'll have to ring her up so at least I can sleep tonight. Hehehe.

  And for you Onacruse and you others who think you're so funny. It was never a sex change operation. I was asked about another type of operation in that, um, area of my physicality and after a loooooong search I finally found a surgeon who told me that he could "trim that thing down to any size I'd like, even down to below eleven inches if I really wanted to go that far."

  I told him I'd have to think about that drastic a change and talk it over with my intended. However, it never became necessary as the young lady in question obviously had a change of heart, as the last time I saw her she was running into the sunset kicking up a great cloud of dust and gravel. I'll never figure that out, after all I am SUCH a gentle fella an' all.

  is harry potter promoting occultism, in your opinion?

  i haven't read any of the books, but i saw the first movie.

  i do some stuff that would be laballed occult by the wt, yet i didn't see any of that there.

  There's more of the occult in the Bible than is dreamed of in Harry Potter.

  WHY PRAYING TO JEHOVAH (YAHWEH) IS A WASTE OF TIME!

  the first known mention of yahweh outside the bible is from certain inscriptions at khirbet al-qom and kuntillet ajrud, which refer to him by this name, dating from the period of iron age ii (850 bce - mid 9th century).

  the kuntillet ajrud inscription is significant as it shows yahweh was not a monotheistic god at this time, as the inscription refers to "yahweh and his asherah" (as his goddess).

  asherah, is of course the goddess of the groves, whose sacred trees were destroyed by order of josiah, just before the fall of jerusalem to the egyptians (in which josiah was killed) and immediately after to the babylonian forces of nebuchadnezzar.
