  Society's position on water dowsing?

  My father, as an elder, used dowsing on his property to locate water. Seemed to work mighty fine. Since I don't believe at all in demonic forces, there must be some other explanation.

  Remember that at one time, man believed that everything he didn't understand was of origin in the debil. Things like lightening, storms, eclipses, orgasm, and a huge list of other things took origin in the debil, mainly because ancient man had no other explanation. JWs today aren't much further progressed. IF they don't understand it, then the DEBIL did it.

  Poor JW dies from heat stroke

  i woman in mesa, arizona whom i've known for over 30 years recently died in her mobile home.

  83 years old and too poor to afford the added electricity of air conditioning on her $500/month social security check, she was found dead in her chair with a fan blowing on her.

  the elders said they didn't know.

  All those billions and not one cent for widows and orphans; even if those widows and orphas spend their lives peddling the WT & Awake. If that is not the practice of a gigantic sin I don't know what is. And I don't guess I have a heart big enough to forgive this particular one. I just can't help despising the WTBTS. It worships money, that's plain. It has no love in it, that's plain. It does not, will not, follow the direction to take care of widows and orphans that's plain. Of what value is it? It demands ALL and it returns NOTHING. It is totally valuless.

  I cannot wait to hear The Master pronounce judgement on the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society: "Get away from me you workers of lawlessness. I never knew you."

  As in all cases, this tribe grafted its tribal beliefs right onto the trellis of the new teaching, that of the Catholic Church. It made no distinction and no room for other so-called "Christian" religions. Apparently this tribe has no trouble recognizing a false cult of christendom and was about to administer it ancient tribal custom of dealing with religious falsehood.

  It is a truism; the witnesses have no concept of how and to what extent they arouse the emotions of non-witnesses. Their arrogance won't let them. I strongly suspect they had been in the tribal area stiring up trouble with their usual unchrist-like attacks on the Catholic Church. They were about to receive their well-deserved instant karma. The love of the Catholic Church is the only thing that saved them from their institutionalized hate.

  Take a note. NO COMMUNITY anywhere, no matter how constituted, no matter how their by-laws read has the right to ban satellite dishes of ANY size or their placement. Can't be done.

  Antennas for the reception of legally broadcast radio, television, or ham broadcasts are under the SOLE jurisdiction of the Federal Communications Commission and no pip-squeak "community planning committee" or any of its so-called "rule making" can overrule the FCC. Neither can they dictate WHERE antennas can be placed. It's very simple. The FCC can, any one else cannot.

  If you have doubts, write to the FCC. Know your rights. Not knowing your rights is just exactly like not having them.

  if you liked the above movie you'll enjoy this book, city of eros, newyork city, prostitution, and the commercialization of sex, 1790-1920, by tj gilfoyle.. this work discusses the stages of prostitution and who made the money?

  the landlords took the biggest pieces of the pie and often preferred the protitutes who could pay their rent as opposed to poor working men who couldn't.

  gilfoyle describes the impact of prostitution on police, politicians, moralists, and the middle class.prostitution functioned at the nexus of social relations in the nineteenth century city.

  Yup. It's just an artifice used by JWs to set up an elite group within an elitist group. They should hang their heads in same. I'm certain some in-house statistician has developed a formula that equates hours of field service with dollars of revenue and the by God want that threshold met: Ten hours a month and NO less.

  Who are the 24 Elders?

  revelation 4, 5, 11 & 19 talk of twenty four elders, before the throne of god.. the wts interpretation has them as the anointed in heaven, but that just doesn't wash, as they are seen to be observers of events that apparently involve folks still on earth.

  by their account they have 23.5 elders in heaven and half a body on the ground, so to speak.. any ideas who these are?.

  (i have an speculation, which i'll mention later).

  This is a rotating body of ascendant mortals on their way to the headquarters of the local universe who have shown in their earth-life extraordinary leadership in the furtherance of legitimate spiritual ideals on this planet. Membership in this council has included Adam & Eve (whose screwup wasn't as bad as is represented in the subversive book known as the bible), Moses, Jerimiah, Stephen, Paul, and others. It is interesting to note that no JW has ever served on this body. However a few ex-Jws have.

  JW strangers say mean things to you at assemblies?

  jw's can be rotten, but what about the "brutally honest" jw strangers at assemblies?

  i have had some issues with the general meaness jw's are to people that they do not even know, and are jw's.. example 1: i was maybe 13 years old and i was a fast developer, i had big boobs basically.

  well a dress i had was really nice...my parents would not have let me wear something that was not apprepriate for me, but i guess the dress was low (i didn't think so) and when i was in the bathroom at the assembly at the mirror, a woman just came up to me and was like "you are showing all the assets you have to offer" or something to that effect.

  In my experience, there is nothing quite so catty and mean as a woman who has just been outclassed by a young girl (and who has bigger boobs to boot). I think I would have smiled and said in my best radio announcer voice, "Now you too can have nice hooters, just $3,000 the pair. See your local plastic surgeon for details. Of course MINE are real. Want to cop a feel lady?") and marched out giggling with my chin high.

  But that's just me.

  Be glad you weren't like them.

  Update on my Mom

  thunder called my sister today and she said the doctor said it would be as little as 48 hours before my mom passed away.

  i am perplexed as to why they were giving her pain medication when she had no brain waves.

  i do have to say that my two dysfunctional siblings are always able to hurt me even when i am not there.

  I'm sorry, Sheila. It's too bad that death is hardest on those left behind; especially when there is dysfunctionality among those left behind. I hope you can find surcease in the thought that your mother has "graduated" from this horrible place of injustice - as you describe - and is now in a much more loving place.
