  DNC update and request.

  the dnc site is approaching its final format.

  arrangements are in place to have it enabled to accept online payments for memberships soon.

  importantly, this will include an affiliate scheme for other quality sites such as ajwrb, silentlambs, freeminds, watchtower-observer and, of course, jehovahs-witness.com.

  While the general public might not give a rat's patootie about whether Jehovah's Witnesses can indulge in oral sex or any other specific thing, I do think that there is an awful lot of intelligence about the Witnesses that may be imputed to the Dubs via knowledge of just this kind of arrogation of authority to intefere in the private lives of its members.

  If you combine knowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses can't: engage in oral sex; watch the smurfs; avoid garage sales; and on and on and on, this information can be correctly summed up to mean that individual JWs lives are intefered with and that the Borg is invasive.

  The public can be counted on, in other words, to put 2 and 2 together. But ya gotta give 'em the 2 and the 2 and perhaps a 3 and a 4 so they'll have something to add up.

  Does God Make Mistakes?

  i was thinking about some of the comments in the bible where god had regrets.

  gen. 6:6 does this mean he felt it was a mistake to make humans?.

  when he decreed that nineveh would be destroyed and then changed his mind after they repented, would it have been a mistake if he had destroyed them before they had time to repent?.

  Seems that there's an awful lot of "changing" going on in the mind of a god who is changeless.

  Also implicit is the idea that God, having made man, is surprised at the things that man began to do. I don't really think that God is ever surprised about anything at all, least of all anything man can do.

  Again, Jehovah is a primitive god, made by man in man's image.

  Help! Help! My son wants to tell elders about me

  i am floundering!.

  today my jw son told me that he had seen an email in our family account written to me from an exjw.

  it contained very little, but enough to let him know that i was in contact with outsiders about my doubts and feelings.

  Have you thought of kicking his nuts up to his nose and dare him to open his mouth? Just a thought.

  Seriously, this is another example of how the JWs are a mirror image of the behavior of Nazis. People were to report their parents; their friends and neighbors. And did. And did in the full knowledge that their parents would be taken away by the gestapo and returned in a cigar box.

  Perhaps you're being presented with an opportunity to make an open, clean, free break. You're staying in to protect your family relationships, right?

  I thought I had strong family relationships, too, 25 years ago when I left. Wrong. An uncle - 9 years older than I - who referred to me as "the closest thing he'd ever had to a real brother" cut off communication with me for the next 16 years. Not a peep. And my best friend in college. Gone. Never loosened up.

  From today's perspective, I wonder if it's worth it to put up a false front in order to keep communication open with people who would betray you for the ever-shifting teachings, mega-multiple failed prophecies, doctrinal flip-flops, and all else of a known religious cult - one that protects child molesters. Hard call.

  McVeigh vs Death Penalty

  i am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.

  i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.

  and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.

  Well, he's dead. And I must admit I don't feel any sense of justice being done. Or that somehow the scales of justice are now balanced.

  And this against the backdrop of the fact that I'm a conservative Republican. Mainly because I'm a Libertarian who realizes that a third party doesn't stand a snowball's chance in this country. And as soon as campaign financing "reform" takes place, if you're not an incumbent you won't stand a snowball's chance. But I digress.

  I've been in favor of the death penalty all my life. And now...I just dunno. I heard those statistics about how each murderer that's executed saves 18 lives. Does anyone know where those stats came from? Strange how they were available at just the right time. And I've never really been open to statistics since I read that book, "How To Lie With Statistics." Besides, wouldn't that 18 saved lives figure still apply to murderers kept behind bars? (I guess the stats include the murder of other convicts, huh?)

  Anyway. I think that a lifetime behind bars is much worse than being put to death. McVeigh obviously thought so. That's why he chose to die. Why should we make it easy on a murderer?

  oh my god!!!!.

  my wife just took me to a site about jw women being molested and abused and not only wasn't anyone prosecuted, those bastards were allowed to continue raping these innocent children under the protection of the gb.

  i was not raised a jw so when i hear something like this it ignites in me an anger that you can not begin to imagine.

  I was involved with a young woman for six years beginning back in the middle eighties. She had been so incredibly abused by a special pioneer couple that she had multiple personality disorder. Pioneers!!

  The abuse was so appalling and so sick, I had to get her to stop telling me what she remembered. Her memories were fragmented and came back to her in pieces during what is known as the "emergency" phase.

  And she and I had a lot of trouble getting any one to believe what she was saying because, after all, they were pioneers. It was truly sickening.

  fred and you know aren't an anomaly.

  my experience in jw chat rooms showed that many more of them are vindictive and just plain mean than one would expect.. i experienced some of this as a witness, but i guess with the protection of anonymity the real personality comes through.. i find it quite scary.

  my flyers merely said: if as a jehovahs witness, a member of your family has been molested information is available for further information see: www.silentlambs.org or call 1-877-wtabuse.. nothing overtly inflammatory, actually more like a public service announcement.. i guess thats what most of the local organizers and friends thought in my neck of the, woods for the first two days of the district convention!

  but once the 'friends' realized that the website i was promoting with my flyers and moving car billboard was not an approved wt site, the powers that be got ... well ... pissed is the word!.

  nobody bothered me on friday as i went smiling about my posting flyers on the light and utility poles on the routes to/from the convention site.

  What they were doing was a direct and complete violation of your first amendment rights. How will we meet this challenge next year?

  The dark night of Nazism in Europe would pale in comparison to the repression and subjugation that would be brought upon mankind if this cult was ever to actually get power.

  It makes me shiver.

  Happy to have you with us. Some have already told you that this board may not be what you're looking for. And one person has said that she wished she had known at 17 what she now knows. I'm in that same category. You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn some very important stuff on this board if you will stay and ask questions about everything you don't understand.

  Someone also said that they hoped for your sake that you were headed for college. I hope so too. When I was 18, the congregation overseer advised me in the strongest possible terms not to go to college. He said that I would likely not even get a chance to finish my degree because Armageddon was going to be here any day. Well, I will be 58 in not too many years. If I had not gone to college my life would have been nothing but struggle and failure for the last forty years. It's been lots better because I did go to college.

  I hope you enjoy your time here and that you will ask pointed and searching questions. We need your fresh perspective.

  obviously a lot of you are no longer jws, for whatever reason, but surely you can find something better to do with your time.

  you seem to spend a lot of your spare time slating the society or picking holes in your former beliefs.. if you've left and think what jws believe is a load of rubbish, thtat fine, you cn do what you want, but why you have to go on about it?

  if being a jw means so little to you, why not just leave it behind and get on with your life?

  Frankly, I can't think of very many things that are better to do than to help those people coming out of the Jay-Dubs that are emotionally, spiritually, and financially traumatized as a result of that association.

  What are you doing to help people who have been victimized by that cult you call a religion?
