Rang bethel just now and asked why Micheal Porter was not disfellowshipped for lying about his past while another bethelite was disfellowshipped because he lied about his past.
I was told
Lying is not a disfellowshpping matter if it has not done any damage and there was no malicious intent
secondly a judicial committe is appointed by Holy Spirit and we must abide by its conclusions.

I know a young bethelite who got disfellowshppd for lying about his past. He got reinstated a year later.
Michael Porter lied about his past to get into bethel - why wasn't he disfellowshpped. Unless of course Michael Porter's activities aren't considered pornea whereas the other young man's were. But still there is the lying aspect - isn't that worthy of a disfellshpping?
I think I'll give bethel a ring and ask them.
i've just stumbled upon this... it looks like it has had some information added to it.
it denies that michael porter was an elder, but the language used seems only to rule out the fact that he was an elder at mill hill... not his original congregation.
is this new info - the date seems to suggest that it is old ?
Peter Bell is now a branch committee member.
Michael Porter was definitely an elder from the year 2002 until he got reproved late last year. Not sure exactly which congregation he attended.

Jehovahs witnesses love to draw attention to the failings of and disunity within christianity. Whereas Jehovah represents peace, order and stability.

I heard that in one congregation a branch committe member is the PO and also the Watchtower study conductor - there are 10 elders in the congregation - go figure. More and more elders are suffering burnout.
