With Heavy Heart

sometimes we find a place and it feels like home, it is accepting and understanding.. then, sometimes, that place becomes cold and inhospitible.. when i first joined here i felt i have found a good place.. people like narkissos, leolaia and others impressed me with their knowledge of scripture and motivated me to learn more for myself.. others touched me with the stories of their pan and hurt, pain and hurt that i was feeling also.. i don't think i ever offended anyone with my views on christianity and if i have i sincerly apologise for that was not my intent.. but things change and sometimes home isn't home anymore.... this site had been invalable to me for my understanding what is wrong with the jw's relgion and the wt, it has strengthened my faith and belief.. here i found people of religon, faith and love.. here i found agnostics and athiest that challenged my views and made me question, they made me a believe via reason and not "blind faith".. for that, i thank all of you, especially the "jeff's" ( ak and alltime), i also say a special thanks to leavingthewt, many of his posts made me feel welcomed and made me think and be a better person.. chalam, bts, dd and so many others, i thank you from my heart for your kind words over these many months.. people like mary and sylvia and so many others filled my heart with love with their stories.. all the best to you my dear brothers and sisters.. .

I always read and value your posts. I haven't read the post or the thread where the offensive remarks happened, but want to encourage you to move on with your life and if this bad experience gives you the impetus to go then it is a good thing. I haven't been on my computer for a couple of days and I have managed to get so many things done. If you find, when you leave that your life becomes how you want it to be then it is a good thing you are moving on and all the best to you.

My Wife's SSD Got Cut Off

this morning, i came to discover in great shock that my wife's ssd has been stopped.. yesterday, i noticed her ssd wasn't automatically deposited as it usually does every 3rd of the month.. .

this morning i checked again and it still wasn't there.

so i got on vp and called to inquire what's going on with her ssd.

I've gotten quite mixed up. We are looking at westcott and Hort's Greek text but am I right in saying that the english literal text beneath the greek text was done by Witnesses as well as the English text alongside?

Even if this is correct - it is the witnesses who have overtranslated in the english text they have used beneath the greek - so they are confusing all of us

QL, the only thing missing from the end of that present-day translation is: "Can you dig it? Peace out."

I guess you don't (dig it that is)

But I stand by what I said - westcott and hort are over translating. Perhaps the WTS in general are aware of such over translations but go to the other extreme by tending to take Jesus out of the picture altogether.

sacolton, I don't see a problem with the KIT's rendition. They have rendered the verse correctly.

edit: Greek usually reads like that and pronouns don't need to be doubled up as in Westcott and Hort.

But taken in context here is what the message bible says (with some present day colloquial language which gives the verses a more immediate feel)

John 14:11-14 (The Message)

11-14 "Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can't believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I'm doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I've been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I'll do it. That's how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I'll do.
