good question Billie Jean. I have a few things I enjoy that I can engross myself in till the cloud passes over and it does eventually. They bother me less and less nowadays but like you I still want to stay close to my family.

FED UP WITH IT ALL !
by billie jean inhi, i haven't used this for a long time, due to the feeling of not needing to.
i've been getting on with life, fine, for some time now.
so been out 10 years, parents and other family still in.. well i guess i'm just asking how you cope, really, my family are becoming worse with me, and my son, (who has autism), little by little, and just the general putting the jw life before everything else, including me, my child, life in general, simple things and keeping us at arms length, it's really hard, as i have a relative trying to dig dirt on me, spreading it round the family in order to try and cause more upset for me.. so just a simple question, on how you've all coped in this situation.. thanks .

by troubled mind inthe officer was very understanding and helpful .
he said you would be surprised how many citizens they have come in and ask how to stop the jehovahs from coming to their doors .. .
i told him my whole story about leaving the jw's after 44 yrs and just wanting peace and freedom .

Update on my bible study - Current light is not always true!
by bohm inlast time at my bible study we talked about how critical a christian should be towards his/her religion, in what situations one should set his/her own doubts aside (like abraham, the israelities in the desert) and when one should stand up and leave (like a catholic who does not understand the trinity).
it was quite an interesting conversation.
he brought up romans 13:1-7 himself (the change in 'higher authorities') and i bit my tongue and did not mention the change in 1962 he knew of was actually a change back to a prior teaching.

Comment on Loneliness
by jgnat inone of the great lessons this board gave me is the cruelty of shunning by the jehovah's witnesses.
it is inhuman.
the toll it takes on a person cannot be underestimated.

hi jgnat - great topic and I particularly agree with this
Loneliness is a taste of death. -from the excerpt by Jean Vanier (Becoming Human, p. 33 some have committed suicide after being disfellowshipped. imo disfellowshipping as practiced by Jehovahs witnesses is barbaric. And what the excerpt says about lonliness is very much like how it for those who have been cut off from their families and friends not just spiritually but socially as well. The WTS urgently needs to look into how extreme their view is.
But regarding loneliness itself (despite being a taste of death) - it is possible to see how it can help a person actualise themselves: to be to the fullest extent possible. This would seem to open up whatever we would like to see opened up and to work towards that goal. Others may share our vision (finally free). My advice- keep on looking, keep on reading, keep on seeking. Goal and vision may change and develop in many ways but this is part of living
