personally I don't think this board is being monitored by bethel - too many disfellowshipped people here, so you are safe. However if you are intending to take legal action it is best to stay out of the limelight just in case. If large amounts of monetary losses are involved I can understand the WTS deciding to check this site.

Just talked to a brother in the service department and he hung up on me!
by life is to short inok so last sunday was my last meeting.
i have been in contact with the service department over this problem with the child molesters in my hall, i have written many, many letters begging for help, i have gotten nothing for help from them, but to wait on jehovah and pray more study more, etc.
so i want them to know that they they win they have weeded me out from the "truth" i am a bad seed from satan as i cannot abide by how we handle child molesters.

I believe you life is to short as I have done the same as you last year. I don't think you will be disfellowshipped over this as I was not (I shared my name and congo). They don't believe women can do much harm! Secondly I think indvidually they are very concerned about the problem anyway but hope the end will come soon

what I meant by my comment above
Paedophiles tend not to re-offend when they have been for therapy. is that there are treatments available for pedophiles and that these treatments do tend to produce a result (roughly half respond) - motivation is a key factor. I agree, madsweeney and acquagirl, that there is no cure apparently but pedophilia is classed as a form of mental illness whilst those who commit a crime are classed as sex offenders. I would hope that if a JW experiences pedophilic fantasies that he seeks help. Elders need to reccomend medical help if JWs confide in them even at this stage of fantasy. This is something the WTS needs to educate its independent agents/elders on and they need to be held responsible for this. The WTS will have to put up with all of us insisting on this.
When a crime is committed it is legally categorized by degree of gravity. All this helps us to look at the situation objectively.
The judge in the case did not hand out a stiff penality whereas the attorney gen did. But even so she only gave him 18 months. One wonders why. From what I can gather Porter's crimes seem to consist of groping. Perhaps this is the reason he did not receive a harsher penalty. One would hope though that his jail term and the therapy he received plus motivation from his sprirtual beliefs will modify his urges. This imo is the best we can hope for. Do elders understand this? As podobear has pointed out some do and some don't.

It is quite reassuring that Michael Porter has been for therapy and was imprisoned for 18 months. Paedophiles tend not to re-offend when they have been for therapy.
Another thing that can allay anxiety is that Porter will be on the local police's sex offenders' register. They will keep an eye on him.

Preparing information about cults and mind control to a therapist...
by confliction ini'm currently visiting a psychologist/therapist to help me examine and work through my depression- i've had medical depression/anxiety all of my life.
i'm no longer anxious or excessively paranoid for the most part- that was a part of my younger childhood, probably from fears and nightmares of destruction at armageddon, and other childhood exaggerations and amplified fears.
but right now, she's treating me for a recent fall back into a depression.. anyways, for the most part, as you could guess, my depression stems from learning i have wasted my entire life (17 years) up to now in a cult, and pretty much my entire perceived world was nothing but an illusory concept.

imo it is important to have your pain and suffering validated and legitimized. Share with your therapist your feelings and the episodes from your JW life that generated those feelings. Depression does often result from burying one's feelings in order to fit in with what is dictated by authority. Part of the therapists job is to bring those feelings to the surface and provide you with a sense of validation. But if you can't get her to understand what buried your emotions in the first place this is going to be a stumbling block to you for your recovery. You may need to compromise with how you perceive her understanding of your situation. Also trying to get therapists to understand about cults may take up precious time. Your therapist will very likely understand your situation and your plight more than you know from what you share of your experiences of actually being (or of being threatened to be) victimized, stigmatized etc.
But info from xjws can be very helpful. I was reading that professionals are indeed heading in the direction of taking more and more notice of blogs and internet discussion boards (that are set up by exiting members of high control groups) to understand how religions manipulate and control social space to get people to do what they want them to and to get them to bury their own abilities to liberate themselves. Emotions are a great help in this liberation and help us to make rational judgements that give us our independence and sense of wellbeing so I hope you can open up to her.
I think it is important to gather some info for your therapist but don't get hung up about it trusting that she understands more than you think.

Israel has been fighting for a long time now and one study I was reading suggested that the heroic spirit in Israel is becoming exhausted and turning inwards on itself. But I don't want to suggest that any of the material I have read is anti-Israel as most of it was very sympathetic. One paper quoted lots of biblical passages to show that Jews will always wander and flourish best with a wandering spirit. But having formed a nation Israel has a right to exist and to defend herself - the trouble is she tends to mostly be the aggressor!
