Being "aware ' of the problem doesn't mean actually doing anything about it apparently !

More BS from the governing body
by 1914BS inthe governing body have got to be insane!!
about 50,000 jws went to kamloops bc this year and spent an average of $1500 dollars per family for food, accomodation and gas.
then the governing body acts as if it "fully aware" of that....or are they???.

Pride or self-esteem... where is the balance ?
by caliber inpride could be a feeling of self-respect but in the christan setting mostly it takes on a negative meaning .
even the definitions of pride seems somewhat confusing.... 1. a sense of one's proper dignity or value ; self-respect.
2. pleasure or satisfaction taken in achievement.

I think the loss of self-esteem among JW's is tied in very closely with lack of respect for" personal boundaries"
Setting personal boundaries means preserving your integrity, taking responsibility for who you are and having control of your life.
Identify the actions and behaviors that you find unacceptable. Let others know when they’ve crossed the line, acted inappropriately or disrespected you in any way. Likewise, don't be afraid to tell others when you need emotional and physical space in order to be who you really are without any pressure to be anything else. Know for yourself what actions you need to take if your wishes aren't respected.
Signs of Unhealthy Boundaries http://www.essentiallifeskills.net/personalboundaries.html
- Going against personal values or rights in order to please others.
- Giving as much as you can for the sake of giving.
- Taking as much as you can for the sake of taking.
- Letting others define you.
- Expecting others to fill your needs automatically.
- Feeling bad or guilty when you say no.
- Not speaking up when you are treated poorly.
- Falling apart so someone can take care of you.
- Falling "in love" with someone you barely know or who reaches out to you.
- Accepting advances, touching and sex that you don’t want.
- Touching a person without asking.
I once talked to a corrections officier who told me.. yes don't step in the two foot area around an inmate
that's all they have left, that is their space ....respect it !

Pro's and Con's of DAing myself.
by lancelink ini have been wrestling with the idea of da'ing myself for close to a year now.
but there is a small area in my subconscious that whispers "this is not a good idea.
i haven't been to a meeting in over six months, no service in seven years.

If there is a need for some therapeutic statement do this in your own mind.. retain all the advantage but
none of the disadvantage loss of family and Friends and your ability to influence them in the future !
For those who feel this a cowardly state, think of all the underground and double agents in the
world who see the greater good , their ultimate goal as greater than some momentary self vindication !
Like in the movie where Clint saids "go ahead make my day " . ( there may be a days satisfaction but
what about the rest of the days ? ) In the long term let justice prevail... instant potatoes solutions
brings more grief than it is worth." Going down in a blaze of glory" is not what its cracked up to be !
Retaining'"outward power " is greater than"inner satisfaction " to maintain ongoing influence on others !

thank you.......that would seem to be the key word comparing ,evaluating self as to others
Self-esteem is the disposition to experience oneself as being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and of being worthy of happiness. It is confidence in the efficacy of our mind, in our ability to think. By extension, it is confidence in our ability to learn, make appropriate choices and decisions, and respond effectively to change. It is also the experience that success, achievement, fulfillment—happiness—are right and natural for us. The survival-value of such confidence is obvious; so is the danger when it is missing.
This definition relates to inner confidence which may be seen or felt by others but not as put down or judgment of
them !

1. a sense of one's proper dignity or value ; self-respect
2. pleasure or satisfaction taken in achievement
3. an excessive high opinion of oneself
4. arrogant or disdainful conduct or treatment
Some scriptures that speak of pride ...
"When pride comes, then comes dishonor....." .Pro. 11:2
" A man's pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will bring honor " Pro. 29:23
Is it possible to have any measure of self-esteem without some form pride ?
So pride could be a feeling of self-respect or the negative version one of "the 7 deadly sins "
Your thoughts, feeling and attitude about this please .

The dreaded assembly experiences ....
by eyeslice insitting through the items with experiences at the one day special assembly day last weekend reminded me just how dreadful having to handle experiences at the assemblies were.
when i was an elder, i used to dread getting assembly assignments that included experiences; they were always so fake.. .
nothing ever happened in our circuit that was ever noteworthy or outstanding, and you usually ended up re-hashing the same old stuff from years ago.. .

I think what's really sad is the embellishments or deletions of facts to provide more
"encouragement " to the audience. My brother was once complimenting a man for his wife's
nice experience about raising two teenage daughters and yet still pioneering ! The man then said
yes and feel bad about that ! How so.. because one daughter was 12... they were told spike it up
to two teenagers .. close enough they said ... What encouragement !..( facts are just a small details !)
Another experience a friend of my MIL gave a wonderful part about the blessings and joys of pioneering..
yet to my MIL she told of all the difficulties and that she wouldn't do it again any time some.. what honesty
but for "encouragement " of course !
This same lady and her husband talk about the joys of pioneering in Quebec( failing to mention that this was the 1960's
and we're past the year 2000 ! But such encouragement !
Do any others know of embellishments?
