i read that some are quite happy that another gb bites the dust.. i think of my "faithful" elderly jw mother who helped many many families come into the "truth".
she's an intelligent woman.

(born 1934) is younger than my mother !!! The 1935 cutoff has proved to be completely false ! Destruction and death give me no satisfaction,
only the faint hope that passing of time and teachings will open many more eyes
but our situation is very difficult and quite high profile.... i was raised as a jw and my mother was very strict and abusive.
i got baptized at age 14.. my mother actually called on my (present) husband's mom in service.
she was on the initial call resulting in his mom coming in the truth and him being raised in it from about age 8 or 9.. despite a very abusive step-father, he followed his mom's lead and came into the truth.

I agree with what a few have said already, take it slow , be quick to hear but slow to accept everything . I so think
we are influenced by scary , haunting music which seems to overshadow and overwhelm solid reason and proof .
There are issues with the WTS but going beyond solid proof , weakens a would be good argument .

once in a while you hear about fundie atheists, and i have desided to become one.
but i need a bit of advice.. you see, apparently the fundie atheists are as messed up as their worst religious "fundie" counterparts, so i got some expectations to live up to.. i have desided to focus on how i should raise my child, since the religious dickery i hate the most has to do with how children are raised.
Let them believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and God...

Why could this father not excuse God like Barney but felt like a hypocrite? .. because I believe there is profound difference built deep into our psyche when comparing Santa, Easter Bunny and God. It's like the furnace has went out but there is still a pilot light on , it is difficult to bring ourself to blowing it out like some birthday candle !

Question the value of invisible things faith , hope and love for anyone or any thing outside of yourself.
Focus on their own agenda, rather than that of others.
Tell them to always remember they are the most important person in the world both past and present.
Wake up each morning with a new set of idea's and goals.. convictions are of no value... just float freely about forever (meaning 70 or eighty years)
Trust other people only when absolutely necessary
One needs to act in a mainly self-interested way in order to advance in life
Co-operation with your family may be beneficial thus your DNA can gain a kind of everlasting life
Never waste time ponding or believing in any living force greater than humans
Hope is just the sweet little old lady that lives down the street
