In a 1985 interview in Hitch magazine, James said the title of the song came to him while he was reading the Bible's Book of Revelation:
I took the title from the Book of Revelations [sic] in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they're not together; they're spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it's my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested.[1]
With an appropriate lighting scheme, the 2000s edition of Tommy James and the Shondells perform "Crystal Blue Persuasion"
However, according to James's manager, James was actually inspired by his readings of the Book of Ezekiel, which (he remembered as) speaking of a blue Shekhinah light that represented the presence of the Almighty God, and of the Book of Isaiah and Book of Revelation, which tell of a future age of brotherhood of mankind, living in peace and harmony.[2] -

From a place of joy and luxury turn to terror
titanic terror ... witnessed by whitier shades of palehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJIVz9nYx7I
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, 'There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
"Bands" playing on the Titanic. Although they knew they were going to die, the band kept on playing. Before hitting the iceberg, young kids were doing cartwheels on the "Deck". The songwriter is a little bit seasick. The crew kept the lights on but in those days, the light bulbs might have emitted a "hum" When the boat was sinking (bow first), the glass ceiling collapsed when the water reached it. The crew (waiters) emptied the bar and gave out all of the booze.
"As the miller told his tale". I believe the correct lyrics are: "As the mayor told his tale" (possibly Dr. Washington Dodge - 1st class passenger on Titanic).
His face was ghostly at first but turned a whiter shade of pale when he realized that he was going to die. Several of the passengers thought the Titanic was unsinkable. Playing cards and listening to the band was a method to take their minds of their eventual fate. Nurture your awareness, and accept what life brings. even if you must leave this world in flustered dignity -

1975 was bad but 1995 was beyond repair.
The dream was over after 1995.
After 1995 the only option left to JW's was the dumbing down of the whole thing and forget what they once tried to be.
At same time the internet was entering in the stage and it was a true paradise of knowledge and new possibilities.
I just can imagine what the old JW's from the pre-1995 era think about what's happening now in the Watchtower. ~~~ John_Mann
I was out by then....but went to the wt study (where I wasn't known) when the subject was covered....I was curious as to how the subject would be handled. I will never forget it. No one seemed to notice anything....just read the paragraph...answer the question.... no one got it.
~~coffee-black"1975 was bad but 1995 was beyond repair.
The dream was over after 1995"I lived through 75 and 95.... I just hit me now why 95 was so much worse because 75 was just a year missed
(we were told to serve with a date in view was weak and selfish... because we served with eternity in view ! ) but now(the 95 teaching ) the whole generation was lost. If the bulls eye of the target is missed no big deal , but what if you now miss the whole target ?
"After 1995 the only option left to JW's was the dumbing down of the whole thing and forget what they once tried to be"
A dumbing down , just don't think too deep.... trust the FDS
Now the overlapping generation was made any time limits almost totally meaningless !!

Prayers that God answers. Any examples?
by punkofnice inwhen i believed in god i tried not to pray for anything selfish.. after a while i began to think that a lot of things i was asking my imaginary friend in the sky for were selfish for some reason.. i do not ever remember a single thing i prayed for ever being answered.
if there was the appearance of an answer it was because i did mental gymnastics to make it fit the delusion that god had actually answered me.
there was never an obvious message/answer from god.

I dare say that the question of prayers and God's answer was addressed by "humbled"
You had something profound happen and you spoke straight from the heart

"God's answers are wiser than our
prayers." He answers prayer...and yes, sometimes we wait a long time
for a reply; and sometimes it is not the way that we thoughtWe waited for four pages "humbled" waited a good part of her lifetime
her answer here ..
It's quite a laugh that I know so little about God but will always be certain that he answered my prayer: "speak but the Word and my soul will be healed."

I don't know that that is necessarily relevent to the outcome or not. But, we don't live in a bubble, and societies views DO affect peoples decisions AND conclusions. I think the jury should have been more ballanced. Male/female Black/white/hispanic/other. Otherwise any result leaves it wide open for disharmony.
still thinking ...yes one believe's that they would have at least tried to make such an appearance.
another thought.. if OJ Simpson could get off with all the clear evidence such as blood of the victims on the door of his truck (tried to create
doubt I beleive the the evidence was planted and that Mark Fahrman was a racist) and there was far less aggressive violence in this case
I suppose.
On April 3rd, the prosecution produced evidence that the glove found behind the bungalow on Simpson's Rockingham estate had a mixture of blood from Nicole, Goldman and Simpson .( how much more damning evidence can you get ? )

"If it doesn't fit you must aquit" .... what a joke anyone knows that leather shrinks when any fluid drys in it !
Rubin subsequently testified that moisture had caused the extra large gloves to shrink a full size and later in the trial, Simpson again tried on a brand new pair of the Isotoner extra large gloves, which fitted perfectly. But it seemed that the damage was irretrievable

An all women jury has found him not guilty, pretty surprising.
I'm sure some of the women must have been black... does anyone know yet, the break-down of the jury ?

To win a second-degree murder conviction, prosecutors must prove Zimmerman showed ill will, hatred or spite — a burden the defense has argued the state failed to meet. To get a manslaughter conviction, prosecutors must show only that Zimmerman killed without lawful justification.
Manslaughter conviction will keep retaliatory actions from happening... save the jury's butts"The unjustifiable, inexcusable, and intentional killing of a human being without deliberation, premeditation, and malice. The unlawful killing of a human being without any deliberation, which may be involuntary, in the commission of a lawful act without due caution and circumspection"
