by Honesty inmy spouse was df'd 4 years before we were married.
within 13 months she was "re-instated" and by the time we were married had almost healed from the "loving" treatment she endured in her "disfellowshipped state.".
she sincerely believes that her life was enriched by being disfellowshipped because, as a third generation jw she had never "made the truth her own.

I pulled up a random page and thought I would comment on a thread!!! Just so happens I pulled up this one and I totally agree! DF'ing is the best thing ever!!! You can cut out heaps of people you don't have to make chit chat to you don't even like. And then the ones that still talk to you, you can work on because they shouldn't be talking to you anyway so they ain't all that good!!! woo-hoo.
Anyway, it's my first birthday party Friday so anyone in Sydney that doesn't mind coming out west a little - let me know!!!

d#$kheads - those rake up your arse elders. My band always played at parties (mostly at my place) or engagements etc. I'm sure things were said but nothing ever came of it. Most young people I knew by the time I was nearly out didn't mind a good time and quite a few drinks.

What a difference a year makes.
by Billzfan23 inlast year on this date... i was burned out as an elder, school overseer, book study overseer, etc... my monday nights were shepherding calls, phone calls, judicial committe meetings.
tuesday nights i conducted the theocratic ministry school and usually had a service meeting part.
wednesday nights i had a bible study with a family from the territory.

How to stump someone that believes the noah's flood happened.
by 5go inone of the key peices of evidence that people sight to try to prove the flood happen is the fact the most cultures have a flood myth or story as they put it.. i was just watching a program that also points out the most, if not all cultures believe in dragons.
even cultures that evolve in isolation have beliefs in dragons and they are all simular though not the same.
just like the flood myth.. so if they believe the flood happened because so many cultures have flood stories.

Birthday Party- an Attempt at Your First
by saywhat29 inokay, so i'm planning my own birthday party/get-together/something as i want to do something fun for my 21st.. the thing is.. i don't know what to do, besides go out and get drunk.
most of friends... okay the two or three i have... are now use to *not* having to get me anything because they are cheap and took advantage of knowing a jw kid.
but, now i want to do something and i have no idea about doing it.. it stil seems kinda silly to me, to celebrate a day that is like any other day, but i will be twenty-effing-one and i've never been a drinker or party-type-guy.

last year my wife organised for myself and about 10 others from my work to go paintball. It was awesome (another thing not condoned as a witness) but jeez I was sore after!
Next week is my first official birthday party and I have about 30 people coming to my place for a bash so I am pretty excited. I just want a present wrapped in birthday wrapping - I don't care what it is!! I'm getting pretty excited - how sad is that. Got to remember not to go too hard to early...
My advise is get your "wordly" friends/partner to help you out. My wife has had 27 of them so has a lot better idea than I...

i just moved house and put ALL my JW stuff in the recycling bin. I had a box full under my stairs. Even my special covered bible with my name on it I special ordered from the U.S.
