I went to bed at halftime thinking it was over. I HATE the lakers with a passion, so I am pullin for the celtics. Woke up to a nice suprise.
I do have to say though, I hate patriots just as much as I hate the lakers. too much smugness.
Nyways. only a game away. I feel it is going to go back to boston though.

Did you ever really believe that god wanted you to shun people?
by jambon1 ini think at one point i did.
looking back i can't see why i thought like that.
i always had doubts about it but you would hear the old 'gods loving dicipline' line.

It is not that I beleived thats what god wanted. I was born in. So, I never thought any different. In my pre teens my sister was DF'd and We all shunned her. Looking back now, I wish I was older. I would of screwed that rule. Now she has passed on. I lost a more then year of my sisters life. I try not to think about it now because it makes me bitter about the org. and that ruins my positive thinking of life.
So, now that I think about it, I guess I never really did think that God wanted you to shun people.
Its is funny. As a witness you look at other religions and groups and talk about how ludacris some of the things they do. Now on the outside looking in, I think, them are some crazy people. who in the world would get wraped up in that?

From the fringes to the outside...
by Amy10606 ini am new here, i thought i would give a short overview of why i am here.
i was baptized at 14. even at that age i had a lot of questions that were shuffled aside by the elders or just avoided all together.
i really felt like i was doing the right thing, i was born into a large family with a suprising track record of no immediate defectors.

Sunday's public talk...
by kzjw inwent with the wife this week for the public talk (i simply will not sit through the watchtower study), the subject was about how poorly governments are taking care of thier people in disasters.
the speaker(who had a british accent) started by saying "burma(myanmar) had 2 tsunamis and the government sent flat screen tv's as aid for the refugees..." needless to say this dillweed lost me for the next 30 minutes of his talk about how man can't care for god's people.
i left during the study as always and returned at the end of the meeting, still burning over the glaring lie told by this "brother" which by the way no one even batted an eye in the congregation!

My all time favorite -
Where the brother 1 was counsling brother 2.
Later brother 1 was told that he was giving counsel to the wrong brother so he went to brother 2 and apologized and asked why he had not said anything.
brother 2 replies: I just enjoyed the counsel.
I realy love it when on 2 different occasions people tell that story in first person as if they were the ones giving the counsel.
After hearing it being used by my PO, then other elders in my cong, then at the CA's and DA's. I was like what a crock of socks.

Several million people can't be wrong, can they?
by easyreader1970 inthat was the question that i asked myself for many years when i struggled to believe the deceptive texts flowing forth from the watchtower.
sure, this doesn't make any damn sense to me but apparently it does to six million other people.
they can't all be wrong, can they?

That same question crossed my mind as well.
But, then I asked myself the typical question. If thousands of people were jumping off a bridge would I do so as well?

New Here
by LearningMore ini have been lurking here for a couple of months.
i was born and raised as a witness, and am a little weirded out to even be posting on here (you know the paranoia).
anyway, i faded about 10 years ago, and after reading so many posts, i am so happy that it was a pretty uneventful experience.

What is the best question to ask a witness
by ImFreeatlast inlets have a free for all .
i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?
) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .

Since you Claim that your organization was chosen by Jesus in 1919 - could you please prove that without assertion? Was your organization teaching 'truth' then? If not - why would Jesus have chosen them?
This is a good one. Cant wait for a chance to use it.

In these 2 paragraphs they all but say the JW's are prophets. I know what it says and you know. But show it to a witness and they will pick apart and the conversation will go no where.
Wasnt sure if thats why you were needin. Just putin my 2cents in.
