QUESTION FOR BIBLE BELIEVERS Mathew 17:27
by fedorE inrecently to pass the time at the mtg i was dozing thru mathew( while the speaker..whatever..) at any rate.
i found math 17:27 peculiar of a certain smell, lets call it an unpleasantness.,out of respect for u guys.
why would jesus have peter leave, go fishing, and go thru the trouble of finding the 1st fish and a coin to pay the tax inside the mouth of this fish, when all he had to do to hasten the paying of the tax was produce it.

I ll even pay to come see you....But somehow i think what you just said was meant to be serious so i ll say this. Money was no issue. Agreed.I am in 100% agreement with you . WE exist on the same page. The Son of God had just coined the phrase "Pay back to Ceaser the things that are Ceasers" following such a "dramatic" statement shouldn't be lip service, or a miracle much less a magic trick. It would reasonably follow that money be produced to satisfy the request.Simple request Tax collector:"hey pay the tax you damn freaks" Jesus: "Hey Peter give Ceaser what he wants" NOT GO FISHING AND THE FIRST FISH U FIND IS GOING TO HAVE A SHEKEL IN ITS MOUTH PULL IT OUT AND GIVE IT TO THE TAX GUY"
REGARDING THE "OTHER MESSAGE" u talked about... As soon as YOU or I start saying what Jesus could have meant here, is, perhaps this message or that message, as soon as we start reasoning like that, we start to introduce things that arent in the text. So lets avoid that part and admit that there is a "strangeness" here. I will admit that maybe the guy that was writing about the event wrote down what he thought happened and in that case it s a whole other can of worms(Holy spirit batman!)

You asked how i felt regarding circumcision predating Judaism. History is what it is. Its human knowledge that becomes refined with time. I wish that i hadnt of been circumcised because I want the greater sensitivity there. What choice did i have and what choice do those born today have where hospitals regularly carrie out this procedure? However (I am unaware) if it has been medically been proven to be necessary today why is it still practiced?
I re read your introductory post. And it occured to me that the Bible.as i was "taught" was a book was the introduction of Messianic prophecy and subsequent indoctrination of its contents to its readers. There are always people trying to fit/prove archeology into the Bible, or astronomy into the Bible ect.. to prove its worthiness. But not the other way around because it falls flat as it is void of substance regarding the sciences But I agree with you that such a book claiming to come from God makes extraordinary claims and doesnt provide any Extraordinary evidence.
In other words i think its bullshit

Since I have great difficulty accepting this book, Im playing devils advocate.The R&F JW will point to circumcision as positve proof of divine revealing.
From the INSIGHT book page 471 on circumcision: "..if the 8th day fell on Sabath it had to be performed anyways...Jehovah did not explain nor was it necessary that he do so. HIs ways are always right....However in recent years man has learned the physical reasons why the 8th day was a good time to circumcise. Normal amoutns of blood clotting ..vitamin K not in blood til 5th day,... another clotting factor ..is present ..on 3rd day But on the 8th day is higher than at any other time in the childs life SO FOLLOWING JEHOVAHS INSTRUCTIONS WOULD HELP TO AVOID DANGER OF HEMORRAHAGE."
I recall as a JW i would read this and think wow! It really is Gods word.
(My own opinion is that he sure had us go through some F***ing pain for nothing just to make up for the fact that he couldnt have created that human body part without the need for hygene in a ritual manner.)
