God made man free moral agents
Exactly. One way to express our love for the creator is to live freely. Living a suppressed life yet always wanting more and denying yourself of your god-given talents and waiting for God to destroy everyone that doesn't follow the FDS is not worship. Its cruel and mental. We have amazing minds but to be told not to use them and to become a drone blindly following a religion is not worship.
I'm beginning to believe that worship is an organic process that we manifest by how we enjoy life and help other people. For instance, if you have a choice of mentoring/helping a homeless family get back on their feet vs. going door-to-door telling folks if they don't follow the FDS they will get destroyed, I see worship as helping the homeless family. If you have a choice of going to meetings 3X/week and learning religious teachings by rote vs experiencing the grandeur of the Andes (or even the Rocky Mountains), I see worship as experiencing the grandeur of creation.
Someone mentioned that worship, as most people know it, is purely a human concept. I couldn't agree more.

amgdn survivialists: stockpiling beans and rice?
by tula injust wondering why, if the end is coming so soon, why the jw's were not warned to make plans and stock the ark?.
faith without works is dead, you know.
works require action.

I always wondered if the GB would pull a rabbit out of the hat one day and make some sort of announcement to "be prepared" materially for the "big disaster".
If they do, I really think it will be the final straw for most JWs. I don't think this current bunch will go for it. They do, however, love when a natural disaster hits or if there's a major horrid news story because it all points to the "last days".
And in regards to the survival pack recommendation, I wasn't impressed...people (including myself) have been doing that for years. Every job I've ever had has also recommended that you have a survival kit at work. Besides for alot of JWs I know, the survival pack gets hit when groceries run low and they never getting around to replacing the items. That's because they create their own survival pack with items that they like to eat instead of buying a survival kit with the space age food packets.

Whats the funniest thing you've ever seen happen in the KH?
by shell69 ini remember being a kid and we didnt have the fancy fabric seats, they were plastic stackable chairs all set out in the usual lines.. an elderly bro, rather rotund, farted, the noise so loud and thundering against the plastic seat!
or the time when i must have been about 7, my dad brought his bible study family to their first ever meeting, i had to sit on mums knee.
i recall giving the daughter of the new family a very vigorous v sign during the meeting.

- When I was a kid, a sister's slip fell to the floor after she walked onto the platform to give her talk. All the kids really got the all-night giggles over this.
- Several years ago a young brother sang most his talk...it was a bible reading from the book of Rev. I had to go stand in the back because I was gonna lose it.

I wonder just what percentage of the JWs have doubts and never verbalize them.
Plenty of them do. I've heard JW say all the time "we all have doubts". My sister, who is a super-dub said it just the other day. I had serious doubts for years and never said a word.

people get DF'd for this all the time.
This true, depending on who knows about it. I also know folks that allowed Df'd relatives to move in with them, some were reproved and some were not.

I recently did WT purge as well. Some items went to the local recycle bin (tracts, mags) and others to the salvation army (bible on cassette, noah's ark video) and some items were tossed in the garbage (videos, studied material). Books that could be used for research, like the Insight volumes and Proclaimers books were donated to the library. I kept a personal copy of a couple of books but they are tucked away in a box. I just got to the point where I couldn't stand to see their literature anymore.

Fading? What's up?
by arker ini was a jw, finally saw my chance and wrote a letter to the elders saying how bad i am and how i don't want to meet to discuss it and to df me if you want.
that was the end of it for me.
my question is if you know you are "fading" you are already gone so why not make the leap?

The shame is for the one that stays in even though they know it's wrong, and stays active and regular.
Everyone is different but its difficult to understand how folks can continue in the ministry and give parts from the platform when they know its all a lie (or most of it anyway). Going to the meetings for a slow fade is understandable but wasting your time on the extra credit stuff that doesn't count anyway is a shame. I never knew how wonderful saturday mornings could be!
