There was an interesting show about the events that are suppose to lead to armageddon on the discovery channel. Many of the events I had never heard of. It was also interesting to hear how other religions interpreted various scriptures.

Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!
by Nosferatu inevery time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.
i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.
it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

Would you ever consider Going Back?

I consider it all the time. Its was such a large part of my life for so long how could I not consider it? I had some really great friends in the org. I often consider going back and being one of those folks on the fringes. You know the type...miss a lot of meetings and go in service once every few months for an hour or so. But then I realize that wouldn't work for me.

I had my doubts all through my teenage years. I got baptized just in case it was all true. I remember the day very clearly when we studied the 1995 generation change. Thats when I knew something was wrong. However, I figured I just needed stronger faith. Eventually, I went to pioneer abroad. That sealed it for me. It was something about seeing so many poor people and so many people that had no idea who Jehovah was and meeting so many people that were heavy into witchcraft and mythical stories...it really got me to thinking. Also, seeing missionaries from other religions made do a double take and the fact that they not only preached but had community centers and clinics. Then when I learned that the org does not claim to have a direct channel to God and that elders are not appointed by holy spirit...I knew that I had spent years of my life denying something I affirmed at 14...it was all a lie.

The closest I have come this year is "Same to you" and "Enjoy your holiday."
Same here. But this year I didn't toss all the christmas cards I received. I put them up and set out the gifts I had been given. It felt very nice and looked very merry.

Horrible Apostates fall into Jehovahs Trap
by Jim Dee inas you guys are probably aware, the new watchtower for studying has shed new light on the generations issue (ie whoops we got it wrong, we were right before) .
the co's here in aus have been briefed to inform the congregation (either formally or informally) that is is part of the cunning of jehovah .
when jesus parted the non beleiver disciples from the core 12 (or was it 13) he made an outrageous statement and watched the weak walk off - thats exactly what jehovahs organisation has done today .

By testing Jehovahs "Meek", the apostates and unbeleivers have stormed off "to the evil bird catchers on the internet" and "fallen prey to weak thinking and unfaithfullness"
I hope someone tells the CO that this type of behavior is not in line with God's character per the book of James where it says that God doesn't test anyone. I've ALWAYS had a problem with the sifting out of the weak. Shepherding calls are to encourage the weak, the pioneer assistance program is to assist the weak, so why don't they just get rid of these arrangements and the weak will just fall off by themselves. If God doesn't want anyone to be destroyed, as the bible says, then why would he promote a lie just to get rid of the weak? Wouldn't he want to win them over into his fold instead of pushing them away? Somebody's lying, either the WTBS or the bible, because it can't be both ways.

It happened to most of the teens when I was growing up. Everyone was getting baptized between 10 and 13 years old and most of them were df'd by 16 or 17. Even now, I know a little girl that got baptized at 8, thats right, 8 years old. By 10 she was a regular pioneer and by 14 she was df'd. When JWs find out that I didn't get baptized until my senior year of high school they always asked me what took me so long since I raised in "the truth".

Nathan Natas,
I asked because I am really starting to see how brainwashed I am...I was having a "moment". I never payed attention to the fact that the WTBS claims that mankind started 6,000 years ago. If you met me on the street as a stranger even before my fade and you asked me how long man had been around I would have said that its more than 100,000 years. I never put 2 and 2 together. I'm realizing how blind I really was to everything that I was being taught. I was so busy underlining my watchtower that I forgot to stop and ask questions.

Nathan Natas,
Am I missing something here? According to archeological finds, man existed more than 100,000 years ago. So is 6,000 years based on human existence or just Adams existence?
