Yes, the young people are leaving. More than ever, many are attending college instead of pioneering or reaching out for a position in the congregation.

Are the Witnesses Really Losing Their Young People?
by What Now? inthat article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.

My Encounter with a JW couple this Morning
by cantleave ini was shopping with nugget in sainsburys and i saw them in the bread aisle.
a couple in their late 70's / early 80's who really i do have an affection for.
he was an ms when i left, not sure if he still is, and she was just a very genuine person with decades of "faithful service" to the cult.. when i was a newly appointed elder, their grand-daughter had accused her step-father of sexual abuse, he was eventually df'd but has since my leaving been reinstated.

What a nice experience!
If the shunning policy were to go away, many would leave. People would find somewhere to go. It's their loss of community, in my experience, that keep people in the religion.

Billy, I'm right there with you. If I knew the world would last this long I would have made a lot of different decisions.
I was overwhelmed with regret when I accepted that the Jehovah's Witnesses religion is led by a bunch of ordinary men that are making it up along the way. Yes, I'm over it now. So over it!
And all those unmarried JWs, most them want to be married or wish they had married. All those childless couples, many of the ones I know wish they had children. All those JWs that didn't go to school, many of them went back as older adults or are going back and are getting advanced degrees.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard Witnesses say "If I knew the system would last this long, I would have..."
In paragraphs 15 & 16, the message of "be assured you did the right thing by forgoing the normal progressions of life to serve to Jehovah" is nothing more than a tactic to get folks to think they will receive extra blessings in the "New World". I've even heard JWs say things along those lines. Why the need to reinforce that message? Because JWs are starting to wake-up but many are immobilized by fear and the GB is going to continue to hold out that golden carrot until it becomes the reason they fall. When people have access to information you can only hold them back for so long.

Infographic on the March 2013 Awake
by RayPublisher inthe watchtower has chided its members repeatedly for many years about not reading anything it deems unsuitable, especially when it is composed by former members.. interestingly, the new march 2013 awake magazine pages 10-11 has an article about a woman that studied and then converted from judaism to jehovah's witnesses.
there are three key points in the article that actually encourage those with discernment to go against the watchtower ban on books written by those with dissenting views.
see if you can catch the clues by clicking below to read the article:.

The interview is incomplete. Did she get baptized as a JW or just reexamine her faith? If she did convert, how long ago? 5 years or 5 months?
She'll rethink the JW religion, afterall she did it with her first religion.

Jehovah's Witnesses v Scientologists - 36 min. YouTube
by Gayle inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?nr=1&feature=endscreen&v=ie3e-ox3nmi.
these two organizations are "cult" cousins!
(though perhaps scientology is a bit worse - but they're both horrific).

This was interesting to watch. Lots in common with Jehovah's Witnesses. They sound like a bunch of exJWs. Thanks for posting.

Why Did You Get Baptised
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
so then, why did you get dunked?
were you pressured into it too, or did you do it because you honestly thought it was the right thing to do?.

In case it was the truth. I was the only one that wasn't baptized among my siblings. Figured it wouldn't be that bad...I was wrong.

I've seen dog tags and bracelets with key chains being the most popular. The praying wasn't too far off but they should have been seated. Wasn't surprised by the long hair as the kid was most likely not active. This was his family's attempt to "save" him. I'm glad this fictitious character died as it showed the true cost of this silly doctrine.

I know people in their 30's that are old and some in their 60's that are like spring chickens. Don't worry about...50 IS older especially if you're not 50 ;)

As a JW, how did you feel about shunning?
by jwfacts ini am interested in the answers for a new poll.
also, feel free to suggest other options, wording etc.agreed in full with the watchtower guidelinesagreed with shunning in general, but not for familywas stumbled by this practice but shunned as instructeddid not agree with the practice and secretly associated with disfellowshipped people .
for me personally, i did not agree with the practice and secretly associated with disfellowshipped people, even whilst at bethel.

No one that I liked or cared about was ever disfellowshipped, so I went along with it.
The first time I ever questioned it was when a cool older lady DA'd when I was a pre-teen and they still made the old announcement so we knew she left and was not DF'd. I spoke to her and caught the wrath of many before they explained that we can't talk to people that leave. I thought that was the stupidest thing ever...the only thing she did was change her mind.
When I got older a good friend was publicly reproved. Everyone shunned the person except me and two others and no one questioned me on it (I knew they wouldn't).
Do they still publicly reprove adults? I find all of that to be such silliness now.

So if you tell a JW they were raised in a cult...
by NeverKnew inyeah...it was wrong.
i got upset and blurted this truth.
seems kinda screwy that telling someone a truth could be wrong.

JWs and even some that recently left the religion will be highly offended. You might have well as said "I am Satan and I'm here to take you away from your Jehovah."
