  SHOULD A KH PROVIDE USEFUL SERVICES?

  one `health and wealth' church provies career advice etc.. should a kh provide such useful services?.

  Yes they should but they won't.

  LOL..one time I received strong cancelling simply for reviewing someone's resume for them after the meeting. Well, it was someone's bible student and they handed it to me after the meeting and told me they had a job interview that week. Well I had a flight the next morning, so I briefly reviewed it, suggested a few changes and that was all. Well for those of you that don't know, they have centers where people can get that type of assistance and it's not the KH and I should have known better as a regular pioneer. Anyway, the person got the job and eventually did get baptized but I don't think she is active anymore.

  Time is running out for the Society

  less than seven years remain before we see january 1, 2015. what will the watchtower's message be then?.

  how can they explain to the flock that jesus christ is now ruling in his 101st year?.

  Nothing will happen. At the DC this past weekend, several of the talks made it very clear that "most of us in attendance today may not live long enough to see the end of this system" or that "the end of this system may be 10, 20 possibly 30 years away". Yes those are exact quotes. This may sound terrible but I thought about all the 30 and 40-something year old virgins that might not ever get any because they are waiting for the end to come. I also thought about all the couples that decided not to have children, they have to grow old without any kids to possibly visit or care for them.

  Anyway, it seems that they are already prepping folks for a very long ride.

  Conversation with an elder today!

  i was at work today and low and behold an elder from the kh i used to go to came in.

  i never got to know him very well but he always struck me as pleasant and mild mannered.

  the thing is i stopped going to meetings over a year ago and am now, as i have already shared, being shunned by my jw son and his wife and can't see my beautiful little grand daughter any more.. i haven't officially dissassociated and not met with any elders but don't care what action they take as they can't do any more damage to me now.

  Very true. I wrote in a thread a few days ago how a few friends of mine wanted me to give it 'one more try' and go to the DC. I went since it involved traveling to a beach town. It wasn't their assigned assembly, they were 'widening out' or man-shopping, call it what you want. Anyway, the whole time it felt like I was with a bunch of muppets. LOL...their faces did crack though as they were proudly telling a boutique owner about the convention and invited her to the sunday session and she informed them that her church also has conventions across the country and that many of their missionaries from around the world come in to share their experiences. One of the girls said she didn't know other religions had conventions or missionaries and another replied that satan has religions imitating the witnesses to distract people. Yep, muppets.

  Do you keep your Yellow Pages phone books? Or pitch them when they arrive?

  i just got a fresh supply of yellow pages books.

  three huge volumes in a plastic bag.

  it's my 3rd shipment this year, from various suppliers, i assume.

  a couple of jw friends attempted to encourage me and invited me to travel with them to the dc.

  overall i had a good time and enjoyed their company.

  however, i went to all 3 days of the dc and nothing happened.

  A couple of JW friends attempted to encourage me and invited me to travel with them to the DC. Overall I had a good time and enjoyed their company. However, I went to all 3 days of the DC and nothing happened. There were not even feelings of nostalgia. No light-bulb moment of if being the 'truth'. It really was all blah, blah,blah...blah. The entire time the folks I traveled with really tried to talk up the practical benefits of being a JW.

  It was hilarious to see that FreeMinds had a table set-up outside of the DC when we exited for the lunch intermission. Although to the JW that's simply a fullfillment of bible prophecy.

  Anyway, so far their plan hasn't worked. So I'm sure they will stop calling, etc. Also, there was no mention of education at all at this DC. It was actually fairly light when it came to the information. Nothing mentioned on apostates either. Nothing major on the use of the internet other than warnings about porn. I'm not sure if folks on this board 'spice up' what they hear at the DC or if maybe the speakers will throw in their own two cents from time to time at various DCs. I actually found it somewhat boring.

  That's the latest with me...how are you doing?

  They are only interested in single women as something to do favors for everybody. They realize once you are married they can't bother you anymore.

  Very true. Whenever I told someone that I couldn't do something for them it was common for them to ask why not since I don't have a husband or kids. That always ticked me off.

  i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.

  it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.

  i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.

  I find it to be quite fascinating. What if a billion trillion years ago there was life on Mars? What if they dig deeper and find a leaf, a fossil or a bone? I hope they do. There is SO much we don't know about our existence. And the answer to what we don't know is not to simply "trust in Jehovah".

  Tangent Alert!:

  So I don't get it, someone is powerful enough to create an entire galaxy with a solar system that has the ability to sustain intelligent life on a planet and yet he's so worried about what one of his peon creations thinks about his sovereignty to the point that he will let millions that believe in him suffer? Not drinkin' that kool-aid anymore!
