The WTS and it's members inability to face it's past/history, funny?
by jookbeard ina recent little debate with a couple of recent posters on here i was accused of constantly referring to the past / history of the wts, even to the extent of it being of little importance to them because of the advancement that the wts has made up until this present day , and that they made mistakes, so did the apostles, and we humbly admitted these mistake's etc, the thing is i love studying the history of the wts, it's failed prophecies/blatant lies/flip flop in doctrine, the outright crazy claims, the organ transplant ban, the persecution of their own brothers in malawi, there help for their brothers in mexico, yet at virtually the same time condemning those brothers to murder/rape/kidnap/false imprisonment etc, so folks, you will be seeing a lot more examples of wts history, i'll keep it coming, because the final conclusion will be that the wts is not the channel that jerkhobah uses on earth, and it truly is an apostate!.

That waste of paper campaign of 2006, where they were supposed to have set off the Great Tribulation, is so embarrassing to them that they have shoved it right back in the corner, hoping it will go away.
I remember that campaign very well and it was the first one in which I did not participate. I remember everyone being very excited about it and how everyone needed to get ready because the campaign was going to set off the great tribulation. Then...nothing. Absolutely nothing happened. What I found funny is that they thought they could start the great tribulation.
And then what if they did set it off? What if Jehovah hadn't planned to bring Armageddon for another 100 years? Then those idiots would have to suffer all that time for nothing because Jehovah is not speeding up his hand for NO ONE...don't believe me? Just ask the sick, homeless, unemployed, malnourished, severely depressed, victims of crime, injustice, war, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamies, landslides...need I go on?
Its common to read in JW literature that one important aspect of the bible is that the writers included their shortcomings and did not simply write about their triumphs or sing praises about themselves. The JW leadership cannot bring themselves to do the same. If you truly are inspired of God, you should have nothing to hide.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses take responsibility for anything?
by BonaFide innow that i am opening my eyes more and more, i am starting to realize that jw's don't see the need to take responsibility for anything.. like in the wt for this week, if a jw marriage fails, they can say it was because they didnt pray enough, or preach together enough.. if an elder gives counsel about anything, then if it seems to work for the person, then he accepts the praise or says it came from jehovah.. but if things don't work out, then the elder will blame the person for not following the counsel right.
or he will tell them to wait on jehovah.. or if there is a wrong teaching, it is never really wrong, it is only the light getting brighter.. it doesnt really matter what happens in a persons life, it is never the fault of jw's or teachings or decisions.
they will say that jehovah is allowing this test, or that the person didnt follow the counsel, or that jehovah is doing things in a special way, or that we don't know yet why that happened, but we will.. for a person that has a comfortable life, and things going pretty well, and they never ask the elders for help, often they think that is jehovah's blessing.. but if something big goes wrong, and the elders give bad advice, or they punish someone and call it "help" and they mess up a persons life, it completely doesnt matter to them.

If they come into money, Jehovah blessed them. If they cannot pay their bills, Satan is attacking them.
So true...I gave a JW money to pay a utility bill and later that day she said that Jehovah blessed her with the money to take care of it. Then someone responded, "I thought Shop gave it to you."

Jehovah's Witnesses participating in sports?
by garyneal ini understand one of their numerous "thou shalt nots" concerns children participating in sporting activities.
my daughter is on the soccer team and my wife (an unbaptized jw with a 'goal' of becoming baptized) was the one who signed her up.
during the first season, my wife kept telling me that she felt torn because she wanted our daughter to participate in sports but she knew she was 'going against god.'.

No, the policy has not changed. JWs should avoid any unnecessary contact with non-JWs, which includes extracurriculur activities. However, you always have a rogue witnesses in each congregation.
Me and all of my siblings heavily participated in sports and school clubs for most of our pre-college years. My mom was all for it and encouraged it. She used the fact that our dad was not a JW as her excuse. People could not complain, we never missed a meeting and were regular in the ministry (key to keeping down complaints). In hindsight, it was one of the best decisions as a JW that my mom ever made.
However, once we were out of high school and headed to college (a sin in itself)...our dad could no longer be our scapegoat for participating in sports.
Let the kid play soccer!!! It builds character and social confidence...especially in girls.
Now about the college thing...there are a TON of adult born-in JWs that regret that they did not get a college education. There are many JW adults that have returned to school to get their BA and many that are pursuing their MBA online. The opinion about college varies by congregation as well. Tell your wife to finish school, tell her it will give her options and more for Jehovah to work with. Tell her to think about how it will be easier to reach the educated if she has a degree (which is somewhat true).

Watchtower's New DVD - An Inferior Product?
by metatron inthe watchtower society has released a new 32 minute long dvd called "the wonders of creation reveal god's glory".
it has excellent cg graphics, high quality photography, competent editing and a pleasing appearance........ and, to me, it is a breathtakingly inferior product.
what is this dvd supposed to accomplish?

The video opens with Jaracz of the GB and right away the hairs stood up on the back of neck. It just felt a little spooky knowing what I know now.
Anyway, the video was highly disappointing and elementary. The convention talk made it seem like this was going to be a hard-hitting DVD that attempts to answer questions regarding creation in proof of a creator and thus what creation reveals about him/her. It failed.
Anyone over 12 would be bored. Anyone that watches the Discovery or National Geographic channel would toss it in the garbage.
Is this DVD suppose to be for children?

But, some wounds, my friend, are because Jehovah has refused to let go.
When you think about who Jehovah is taught to be, the above line makes no sense at all.
When you think about who Jehovah "really" is, the above line is absolutely true.

"I love you man!" - as he hugs everyone.
by dissed inas a newbie here, only having discovered this site a few days ago, i wanted to share with you my early observations and impressions.. being out of touch with the witnesses the last 13 years, i didn't realize sites like this existed.. my thinking was all apostate sites were places of doctrinal discussions on the trinity, hellfire, etc... with bitter x-jw's ranting 24/7.
so i was never excited about allowing more controversy to my life nor visiting such sites.. this is different.. what i'm noticing is that most here seem to be well versed in witness doctrine, much more so than the visiting jw's.
perhaps there is a protection for the wts in keeping people ignorant?.

Thanks for posting the vid! The hate email Brenda Lee received from JWs were just awful. They must not have gotten the memo on folks having the right to change their religion.
Way to go, Brenda Lee!
