bump! We gotta make plans for a GTA apostapicnic this summer!
Bobbi!
hi everyone, i'm new to this forum, and somewhat new to being out of the org [in recovery mode at present], and i'm looking to meet some fellow ex-jw's in person.
now that i'm "out" making new friends has proven to be a bit tricky since i'm a tad socially stunted due to my past.
btw i'm a guy in my late 20's..

Toronto area here with my husband Paralipomenon. Left for many reasons.... I was raised in from age 5 and the hubby was born in. We got out, with our three sons, about 6 years ago. Things are a crazy with work and holiday's right now but maybe we can arrange a Toronto GTA meet up in the new year.

i could just be reading too far into this but... even with plenty of opportunities and time to go, she didn't seem to make it out last month.
last night she said she was gonna go out today (the 1st) but... she's downstairs at the moment sipping coffee watching tv.
a few weeks ago on the long drive back from the assembly we talked about fs.
A date with your honey will surely trump going in service. Don't make a big deal about her lack of FS time last month. Let her fade out her way. If you say anything she will feel obligated to resume going in service so she doesn't "stumble" you. Gradually over time Not going in service and perhaps missing meetings will not feel so guilt inducing. Good luck!

I remember Mr.Pole from my childhood as well. When I was in elementary school I was friends with his daughters. I am a few years older (I think) but I remember playing with them. Mr.Pole's sister was like an aunt to me, in fact she taught me to read. I was always afraid of him for some reason and he was awful to his kids. If they are on here, HI HI HI!!!!

can't believe that we made it through the whole assembly, **** wasn't feeling good last night, has a cold, was pretty cranky, then he seemed fine and minutes later im making a bowl with my hands for him to throw up in while we are sitting (the joys of parenthood) then into a plastic bag, then very quickly ran to the bathroom for even more throwing up, but suprisingly we stayed for the rest of the day.
trying to think of a response.
i am not "out" on fb soooo sick from this i wanna throw up myself...poor children!.
I give up :(

People drag their sick kids out all the time. It's not just JW's who insist on sitting thru whole conventions with sick kids or dragging kids with colds to the meetings. Take a good look around then next time you are at the mall. At least once a day I get a mom with a sick kid shopping in the store because the kid was too sick to go to school but if Mom has to take the day off she might as well get some shopping done.
Common sense is not common.
If you want to continue with the closemined judgemental thought processes of a well indoctrinated JW, go ahead, but try to not spew your misery on everyone else.
Bobbi, proud mother of three boys and two cats.
i'm divorced and i have a daughter who is nearly 11. last year she watched a video in school covering upcoming body changes (which she already knew about).
but one suggestion they gave that i didn't think of was to go get femine supplies and be prepared for when the time comes.
i like being prepared ahead of time for emergencies.
I was 11 when I got my first period. I wish someone had put some supplies in the bathroom for me! Get the good pads, not the generic, and some extra panties. If you are comfortable enough, and she's ok with it, talk about how"leaks" and "overflowing" will happen and that it's ok. Some thing discreet to tuck into her back pack is a great idea!
Vivid memory,,,, I can remember my mom telling me that the pain would be terrible. I rarely get cramps, even to this day. I get a terrible backache and really bad headaches. I remember my mom and sister using their periods as an excuse to act like total bitches and blame it on PMS. It is a natural function that should be treated as such.
And to all the ladies reading this thread, have you heard of a Diva cup? I've been using one for about 5 years and it's awesome. if you can use a diaphram you can use a Diva cup.

She might have wanted to take her sick child home but who ever was driving probably said they wanted to stay. I've been stuck like that before. And I've had kids who seemed perfectly fine 2 hours before suddenly start puking. We all need to stop judging those who are still in for their actions when we don't have the whole story.
She's very likely a great mom stuck in a back situation with little to no help.

my sister-in-law has recently gone back to the org :-(.
she has been wearing trousers (pants to us members ) now she has been told to expect a shepherding call from one of the elders about her style of dress!.
has anyone any good ideas or even scriptural comments that she could use.. .
One very cold winter in Calgary I wore jogging pants under my ankle length skirt. I had the pants tucked into my tall boots so no one could tell I was wearing them. In the process of helping get a car out of a snowbank, during service with a couple of older brothers in the car group, I slipped and fell. My father was told to tell me that my attire was inappropriate and not to wear pants again. My Dad thanked them and told me to wear what I needed to stay warm and next time let the brothers dig the cars out.
Moral of the story, the brothers can wear what ever they need to stay warm, but sisters need to literally freeze their bumms off.
Pioneering in Calgary was not fun.
